    The naming of ships

I suggested on the 'Costa Fortuna' thread that it might be fun to consider new names for existing ships (based perhaps on aspects that have become apparent via recent news or reviews - Braemar might be re-christened the 'Typhoid Mary', perhaps). It might also be fun to think of names for as-yet unbuilt ships that could be added to any line's fleet...

Don't forget the new Voro-Nirus launching soon ;) I did put a cruise line name in there but thought "Public Forum" = Slander! Let's see if you can guess which one I was going to type. Obviously I can't comment ;-)

Dave from Whitstable is a big F.O. man.
He'd not take kindly to one of his ships being referred to as... I can't even repeat it...

Fortunately, he away on P&O Ventura, encountering the big time,
and so will likely miss this derogatory but amusing comment!

Artheritis was a nickname for another F.O ship as well. What about a new ship called COUGAR? Carol.

The Norris Cole - that would be a nice name for a new Fred Olsen ship, conjuring up (for me) cosy, yet humorous images from my favourite soap.

We sailed on the NCL ship Seaward in 1997, now then equipment started to have to be electrically tested and that was the name of one of the instruements so Seaward could have been renamed Pat Tester and look how all the electricians would flock in the world for a busmens holiday on it, however it became the Norwegian Sea and is now the SuperStar Libra. We did cruise on a Thomson ship in 1996 called the Sapphire, a real little gem.
