Have Your Cake & Sail On It

    Hi Guys!

It was my mum's 60th birthday last week and as she is totally hooked on cruising since her first cruise a couple of years ago - and as we couldn't stretch to sending her on a real cruise, I convinced my wife to make her a cruise ship cake instead...:D

The ship is ready to set sail...

    ...a fire breaks out...

    ...Abandon ship...

...At least one of the lifeboats got away safely

Great, but I think the lifeboats are too high above the water-line to meet the current SOLAS (safety of lives at sea) regulations. ;)

It looks wonderful. I'd be so thrilled if anyone made me such a cake.

That's a lovely idea- and you even painted a background. I bet she was thrilled.
    I'll go for "Epic Jo".

What a good idea! My Mum-in-law will be 80 next month and I was trying to think of something more interesting than the usual 'basket of roses' design. They have both been fanatical cruisers for years, so the ship would be very appropriate.
I made a cake for my son-in-law recently, he's a Dr Who fan, so I made a Dalek. Judith

I didn't think to take a photo. It was going to be a Tardis, but I'd no blue roll out icing and two packets of brown (don't ask), so it became a dalek. Quite easy to do with victoria sponges of different sizes carved into shape and mini marsh mallows on bits of skewer for the weapons. I'll take a pic of the mother-in-law's cake.
