Going on Splendor to Venice/Greek Islands cruise this October. Has anyone been on this cruise and can advise if we will have time to see Venice. This is our first cruise and do not know if we are able to leave cases at the port, visit Venice and return around 3.00pm as the ship leaves at 17:00pm. We arrive in Venice at 10:00am but then have transfers to the port. Can anyone help!

You've certainly chosen a good'n for your first cruise. Be sure to be on deck when you set sail from Venice, the views will blow your socks off!

If your ship was docked nearer to St Mark's Square you would probably have time for a very quick look around after boarding the ship, but the large ships are a little out of the way and in any case a quick look would not do the place justice. You might consider tacking on a couple of days in a hotel at either the beginning or the end. Your travel agent should be able to help with that.
Whatever you decide, have a wonderful cruise. Look forward to the review.

Thanks for the advice, looking forward to that view now! Think we will book something on the begining of the holiday to make sure we see something of the place as this is the main reason we chose this cruise.

If you go for the extra days - St Mark's is best in the evening, once the crowds of day visitors have gone. You almost have the place to yourselves and it's quite magical. You don't have to spend a fortune to take part in the evening entertainment. There are usually mini orchestras playing outside the Cafe Florian, etc and you can just stand and listen without paying a small fortune to sit at a table for a coffee or drink. When one orchestra finishes a set, another will start up on the other side of the square. It really is fabulous. Venice is unique and I'll be amazed if you don't want to go back some time. We did this a couple of years ago in early October and it was still warm enough not to have to wear a jacket, although at the end of our stay the rain came and the square was flooded, which is when they put up the 'boardwalks' - an experience in itself. I do envy you and I hope you get the best out of your visit.

Hi,
We did this cruise 3 years ago in October. It was fantastic. We booked our own flights, we had to change in Zurich. We didnt have any time when we got there, it was straight to the ship. We had about 6 hours when we got back, but we had our luggage with us so it wasnt easy. It looked a lovely place, but we viewed most of it as we saied by!
