Topic: Tender or shuttle into Venice Dubrovnik

Im with brilliance of the seas in May, From the ports of Venice and Dubrovnick are you tendered into them or shuttle bus available to get to centres only excursions do appear expensive

You will berth in Venice at the cruise terminal on the north west side of Venice. There are no shuttle buses to the centre as there are only canals in Venice so you need a waterbus. A 12hr ticket is €16.
You will normally berth in Dubrovnick unless there are lots of cruise ships in when you may have to be tendered. You need a shuttle bus from the the cruise berth.

Brilliance of the Seas will berth at the Cruise Terminal in Venice. From there you have a choice but most will take a Vaporetto to St Mark's Square.

The ship's bow on the right of the picture is that of Brilliance of the Seas.

I would imagine that Royal Caribbean will charge you for their shuttle bus into Dubrovnik. There are however options. Taxis are freely available...

That is 10 Euros one way to the Cruise Terminal

There is a People Mover very close to the port in Venice. Very much like the Docklands light railway and runs every few minutes. It costs 1 euro each way and takes you very close to the main railway station. From there we walked right through to St Marks Square, though we didn't bother going into the square as had been before and is very crowded. It was a lovely walk over many bridges and some very interesting shops and stalls on the way.

The People Mover is never mentioned on the ship as they want you to use their expensive transport. Just head to the right when you come out of the port gates and it is signposted.

We walked from Grutz harbour to Dubrovnik city walls with the two children (7 & 9 ) on our last visit. It took around half an hour and was a fairly easy walk. For the return we purchased bus tickets from a newsagents just outside the walls

This is from my review in 2008

Dubrovnik is gorgeous and the bus to the centre cost 80 lipa (There are 100 lipa to a Kuna and 1Kuna = 11pence ). The bus station is a short stroll from Gruz port. To walk the city walls costs 20 Kuna for children and 50 Kuna for adults so the entire morning cost us 146.4Kuna or £16.10

At present there are 8.25 Croatian Kuna to the pound

The Venice people mover does not take you into the centre of Venice. It does not go very far and only takes you to Piazzale Roma. If you are berthed at one of the outer berths its quite a walk to get to the people mover station. Its prime function is to transport people from the outer car park at Tronchetto. Look on Google maps.

How far is the walk from birth to St Marks square? we do walk a lot and if we used people mover form where we disembark it
