Hi Everyone,
Just joined this forum in the hope of finding out any information on how people are getting to their cruise ships by other methods other than flying! We are due to cruise from Venice on Saturday 24th April for seven nights on the Costa Victoria. We booked our flight seperately and were due to stay two nights prior to the cruise in a hotel in Venice. We were soooo looking forward to it! We are looking at travelling by train instead so we dont lose the cruise and all our money!! Has anyone any advice or is anyone out there in the same situation? Looking forward to hearing from anyone!!

Hi,
Most people are in the same situtation unfortunately. Ferry prices have gone to ridiculous levels, £69 seats on Eurostar are now being sold for £370 and very few places are actually available.
As you are up north it may be worth looking at ferries out of Hull etc as they are more likely to have spaces than the southern routes.
Just had a look on Viamichelin.com and the quickest route by road takes 19hrs from Liverpool and covers 1820Km. But it is routing you through Eurostar.
Hope you find something

Cute shorts may be better? - see my pic..
As I see it, your biggest problem is crossing the Channel to the European landmass!
If the ruddy French pull their finger out and get over their rail strike
suddenly the Chunnel gets massively overbooked
but you might be lucky in that Chunnel respect.
Once on Euro-soil, getting to Venice could be anything between walking it
and hitch-hiking with skirt up, to show some leg! :D

Actually that's something ~ "Where's Grant today?" has he gone plying out his new boat to the highest bidders down on the south coast?:p

What about a charter aircraft ~ low level flight means it can still travel.
Get a group together and see what price you could get to hop across to france then catch a train.
