    Wilba calling Aplmac!!

Hi Aplmac, Love the pics and have done Barbados before, just the town & Taramind Cove. December we are on the Equinox into Bridgetown and are looking for a beach as per your pictures, nearby with maybe a light bite & a bar. Any suggestions gratefully received........ Wilba

I usually recommend Rockley Beach on our South Coast
-also known as Accra to the locals
(name of a big hotel there, for the last 5,000 yrs.)
It's about 15 mins. drive from the Port

Yes, it's a bit surfy (depends on the day and its sea conditions)
but has all amenities nearby, food, bar drink, umbrellas chairs,
vendor stalls with colourful clothing (they don't harrass you!) etc.
Yes changing rooms and toilets too, and freshwater showers.
Chefette fast-food across the road offers nice pizza and Roti!

    Accra/Rockley rarely disappoints
and is the big favourite with the locals based on the South Coast

    Alternatively..

Carlisle Bay is closer to Bridgetown and your ship.
You may have heard of Boatyard(now Tabboo,I'm told)
    and Lobster Alive next door.

Both are on Carlisle Bay, a 2 mi. long curve of a beach
with HILTON at one end and Bridgetown proper at its other end.

    ...........................................

Those first three stunning pics are Bottom Bay
which is quite far out there and not easily accessible.
Will require a taxi to get there and to wait on you
since it is remote with very few amenities
-much more suitable if you're on the island for a few days
and have your own rented car.

Many Thanks Aplmac, I've just looked on Google Earth & Tripadvisor regarding Carlisle Bay. Comments stated it was more relaxed than some beaches although another site said it was littered (albeit 2007). Any comments re the more relaxing between Rockley & Carlisle. Also Carlisle appears to be walking distance from the cruise terminal!..Is it?..........Regards Wilba
