Celebrity Solstice...Anyone been on her?

We have booked our first Celebrity cruise in May on the Solstice. We are taking two friends who have never cruuised before and are hoping our choice for them won't be a disappointment! We have sailed the same trip several times before but mainly on RCCI. Has ANYONE sailed on the Solstice??

I would be very surprised if anyone is disappointed. Celebrity are 'Premium' and RCI are 'standard' (mass market). The 'Solstice' class ships are breathtaking!

Many aspects of the experience should be higher in quality than RCI. The food should be better (more fancy) which is great, unless you are exclusively an egg and chips fan. Although RCI are more party/family orientated, Celebrity are simply more 'upmarket'. For example, you don't get continous annoncement over the PA. Celebrity assume that their guests can actually read their daily news sheets.

Thank you Malcolm. That is what we'd hoped, but sometimes the advertising 'hype' can be wrong! After telling our friends what a great time they'd have on their first cruise, I didn't want to get it wrong. Also, the deals on Celebrity this year were SO much better than a similar balcony cabin on RCCI ships that I felt sure there was a catch!

We spent two weeks in the Caribbean last year, our initial reaction was the ship was very elegant but we had been used to Millennium and Century class ships before but it definitely grew on us. We were at the naming ceremony for Equinox in July and later on this year we will spend two weeks on the new Eclipse. As this a new class of ship which has caught a lot of peoples attention I have started a website devoted to the Solstice class and it is regularly updated unlike the reviews you will read from time to time so have a look as this, unfortunately the first ships you will see are the Equinox and Eclipse but this is the same design and style as Solstice and the next coming on is the Silhouette . There a number of specialist restaurants including the Murano which we found was very popular but costs an extra $30 per person but there are 3/4 others some you will see in the photographs on the website
http://billblyth.co.uk/SolsticeClass.html You will see a picture of our balcony 9261 and the panel opens up, you could have this option if your friends are in the cabin next to yours. Such is the advantage of a website have added the spectacular shot of Solstice arriving Fort Lauderdale Nov 2007 prior to its naming ceremony.
