Sample some celebrity wines on an Australian cruise

Travellers planning to stop off in South Australia during a cruise in the region might be interested in sampling some of the celebrity wines on offer in the state.

The local tourist board said that an increasing number of famous figures are showing an interest in producing their own branded wines.

Many vineyards operate an 'open cellar' policy, meaning visitors can sample products being launched by the likes of Ian Botham and Bob Willis.

The cricket legends have joined forces with Geoff Merrill, one of Australia's top wine makers, to create a selection of wines including a chardonnay, a cabernet and a shiraz.

Olivia Newton John founded Koala Blue Wines in 1983, while golfers Greg Norman and Nick Faldo have also given their backing to wines made at vineyards across South Australia.

Travellers interested in visiting the country during a luxury cruise can choose from itineraries offered by companies such as P&O Cruises, Holland America Line and Princess Cruises.

Come visit us in South Australia!

After reading the great post below, I thought it would be remiss of me not to join up and provide some info for you.

Geoff Merrill Wines is based in Woodcroft, which is about 40 minutes drive directly South from Adelaide, on the way to the fantastic McLaren Vale Wine region. So ideally, start your food and wine adventure at Geoff Merrill's then head down to McLaren Vale for more wineries and excellent local produce for lunch. Many wineries have highly acclaimed restaurants attached, or grab some fish and chips and sit on the beach at Port Willunga!

If you have a group and are going to do a wine tour, let us know when you are coming and we will give you a tour of the winery as well as a tasting.
