Have you decided to go down the previous night Stan?
Hi Margaret, actually we are now going down on Thursday in order to maximise our "break",now that we don't having guests staying over;) we have booked into Holiday Inn junction7 for a couple of nights.Answers to your questions..1.It says nothing on the "E" mail from Celebrity about luggage, but answers are to be found further back on this thread,2.No mention was made of cabin nos. etc.so you pretty much know as much as everyone else.As to the convoy mmmm.As you know Margaret,I am a Man, and as a result of an excess of testosterone ,I refuse to have a satnav, and refuse to ask anybody for directions, which often results in longer journeys than strictly necessary(but very satisfying).and May shouting to people for directions at high speeds, which I pretend to ignore;but am secretly grateful for (don't tell her).Stop worrying, trust your T.Agent and have a nice weekend Stan and May :D
    Hi Stan,
That made me smile. My OH has also too much testosterone and was far too proud to rely on a Satnav. However, he is also a gizmo man and the latter won. We call it Sonia, because the voice gets onya nerves. It's caused a few laughs though (for me mostly). We were up in Yorkshire last year, staying near Pickering and decided to go to the big WW2 museum up that way. OH decided to set the Satnav-upshot being, that when we got to the site in question, Sonia took us round the perimeter of it (farm track) before leading us to the entrance. He was fuming and I was beside myself with laughter.:D:D
As for the walk on 24th causing problems for us who want to get to Eclipse (AB car park gate8 right by the ship), I agree, it will all get sorted, one way or another.

    Hi Jill

Does your husband ignore Sonya if he thinks he knows better? We have this problem all the time. Our satnav's favourite phrase is "turn round when safe to do so". We never do of course.

I will be glad when we get the details for 24th. I'm sure everything will be fine but I'd like it sorted now! Judith

I bought my OH a satnav a few years ago as, despite seeming to be quite a macho man, he is terrible at directions. It amuses us on long journeys although we don't rely on it solely (good job as she always wants us to do a u-turn on the north-bound M1 at Ferrybridge....).

My OH says I am imagining it but I believe she gets more stern in her voice when we do not follow her directions.

The most useful feature of a satnav to me is the button that tells you when you are expected to reach your destination so you know whether you have plenty of time for a coffee break.

Still use it every time now, although we know the route by heart. It was a female voice at first but 2 weeks ago it is was a very sexy voiced male. Still tells us to do u-turns when we dont go his way!Son-in-law used one when he was a a delivery driver for a frozen food firm. Fine, until one dark, snow covered morning. Somewhere on the moors between Sheffield and Manchester, it took him down what turned into a cart track. Some 6 hours later the recovery team got him out. A common occurence I know, but sometimes helpful and sometimes fun. Carol

Hi Judith. Absolutely! My OH is also a smart arse and often ignores the Satnav. In fact, when we don't do as she says (because he knows better), we pre-empt her verbal instructions to 'turn around when safe to do so and say it in unison.:D
I'm wondering when we will get more details re 24th too and still haven't decided whether to go down on the 23rd.

Hi Judith. We've just booked a room at Holiday Inn Eastleigh for 23rd. Hoping the weather will be nice that day, so that we can make use of our NT or EH memberships . Might visit Portchester castle, as suggested by someone on this thread (sorry forgot who).

I thought my husband was the only one who argued with the SatNav.
What actually made us decide to buy one is when we had to return a hired car at Heathrow.
The Rental Agencies have their offices/garages some distance away and offer a shuttle service.
It was pitch dark and the directions they had given us were pathetic. We felt we were going round in circles - it was nerve wrecking.

My husband is still faffing about - if we end up driving down on Saturday morning I'll be really peeved! Really, anywhere within an hour's drive would do nicely.
We've only walked round the outside of Portchester Castle after spending the day at Fort Nelson, before boarding Brittany Ferries, overnight to St Malo. I've got to work on the Friday, so we'll get to Southampton (or there abouts) around 8ish.
    Judith
    I'm really excited still.
