If I was head of Marketing at Celebrity I would immediately realise how difficult it is to pack for any cruise, let alone an event like this.
I would give all the details of the Formal night, Naming Ceremony. I would make sure that everyone knew whether the Ceremony is held on deck or in the theatre, whether there will be fireworks and if so whether they can be seen from some lounge, exact details of what size the luggage can be, I would instal a hot line where these questions could be asked.
I can't believe how difficult I am finding it to decide what to pack
It's still quite chilly here so pack a warm jacket. I was scraping ice off the car on Monday and night temperatures are still very low. I had this daft idea that it was Spring and would be warm(ish) so have had to rethink the packing list.
I agree a more detailed account of the event would have been useful but I'm sure we'll all be fine. If fireworks are to be viewed on deck the gentlemen will need more than a suit jacket, or does the single malt do the job?

Bearing in mind the term 'hand luggage' is just to make you aware there will be no porters and you will have to carry your 'stuff' yourselves, as long as your cases fit through the scanners, I would imagine you can take quite a lot. I packed so well for the Azura, I missed out quite a few things I would have liked to have taken. A shawl or pashmina will be a good idea for when you are on deck. We were very lucky with the weather but it is amazing how the champagne helps with the cold.

I hope all the folk on the Eclipse weekend have as good a time as we did on the Azura.

Thanks for the tips. We went out today and bought a couple of new 'cabin' size cases. We do have a few wheelies between us, but the new ones have just a tad more space. We are leaving home a day early but if I pack wisely, can leave Friday's stuff in the car.
A week to go and SO looking forward to it.
Thanks for your support and good wishes Sue (?)

Sure. Happy to show you. I tend to use the iPhone for just quick videos that publish to YouTube then you just place the YouTube tag in the post. For video it would have to be an iPhone 3GS, not the old 3G.

I think someone was asking me to show them to insert images in posts as well but I think but can't recall who! We'll find a spot somewhere and sort it out! Many thanks - Grant
I rather think the cry for help may have been me, not so much for pictures but for an Avatar (when I find one!) and a Countdown Timer. My phone is 3GS so we could make stereo broadcasts!!! The deckplan app will no doubt be incredibly useful because I could get lost in a jacuzzi!

I get the feeling that you are going to be incredibly busy on this cruise!!!

Gosh, this time next week we will already be on our first leg of this unexpected journey! I am kicking myself now that we didn't just book the cruise you booked! I just know that I will want more!

Champagne lessens the symptoms of all known diseases too. Fact. I've tried and tested it.;)

    Cruising my way through life!

<<it is amazing how the champagne helps with the cold.>>

Some years ago I asked my son for a vodka and orage. He gave me a glass of vodka with a dash of orange. Not to embarrass him I drank it. After a few minutes I felt tremendous heat all over me but especially my face. A few weeks later we were invited to a friend who lives in a huge house in the country. For some reason or other she didn't have any heating . I remembered the vodka and orange and had a similar drink ...... no need for heating and I was one of the few who took off their coats.
So if my jacket and pashmina won't be enough I'll resort to my vodka and orange.
