    Norovirus Hits Celebrity Constellation

Celebrity Constellation passengers on the ship's current sailing could be experiencing more than just the line's token "Solsticised" updates.

The ship which left Amsterdam on May 28th is seeing an increasing number of Norovirus cases.

The latest information from Celebrity representatives says that 164 guests and 29 crewmembers have been ill during the voyage; when numbers reach 10 percent of the ship's total passenger count, the line is required to report the outbreak to the U.S. Center for Disease Control.

Celebrity spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez says that boarding for the ship's next sailing, a 12-night Scandinavia and Russia sailing from Amsterdam on June 9, will be delayed to allow time for thorough cleaning and sanitizing. But, there has been no word yet regarding how long the delay will be or what sort of compensation might be offered to affected passengers.

This incident comes less than three months after Celebrity Mercury was plauged by a nearly unprecedented number of outbreaks.

Absolutely Millis, also for those with the 'uncertainty' of getting it. Paranoia starts spreading as quickly as the virus.

    I found this very interesting:

It makes you wonder if that's why actual figures are sometimes not revealed onboard an affected ship. Not only paranoia but 'conspiricy theory' was rampant on my last cruise. It does not make for a relaxed cruising experience.

On Constellation they would need :
Lower bed & staff only total = 295 people affected to have to report to the CDC, if staff are taken out these figures the the number drops to 195 passengers or at full occupancy 245 ex staff / 345 inc staff.

    Figures taken from 2010 Berlitz

I confirm these informations,i does not have the number of passenger wich were ill but i think some of people does not declare (like me)and the real number is more important
I was onboard beetwen may 28 to june 9(last cruise)
    I have a great deception
It was more serious to cancell this cruise and stop the ship during one week in Amsterdam for desinfect it(the problem was identify the departure from Amsterdam was delayed may 28)
I think now Celebrity is not serious and it prefer win money (time is money!!)passengers are not important
Last year we cruise aboard Orient Queen in may(Louis cruise line the ship is smaller )
I never was ill and i was very enjoy
    Celebrity now does not exist
Excuse my mistakes English is difficult for me but i wish give my opinion

    The good option consisted of
cancel cruise and stop the ship in Amsterdam and desinfect it
    but celebrity lose money
I am very desapointed and never i come abord Celebrity ship

I was on the next cruise, June 9th sailing. We were late getting on the ship because they worked for four hours trying to disinfect it. This was a big mistake by Celebrity because they had another outbreak of the Norovius. It is obvious that they are more interested in profit than their passengers. We were sick for half the cruise, which effected everything, we had to cancel a number of shore excsursions which pretty much wrecked our vacation. I was also not impressed with the poor entertainment and food on this so called premium cruise line. I have contacted the head office and they are only willing to offer 48 hrs in compensation. This is a standard form letter they give to all those effected. They should have delayed the cruise for 2 or 3 days to disinfect the ship properly, or else offer another cruise. I Have been on 16 cruises during the last 20 years This has been by far the worst

It would appear Celebrity think 4 hours to clean down the ship is enough !! well add another 44 to be on the safe side as I am sure once the cleaning process is complete the area needs to be checked 24 hour or thereabout later to see if the cleaning has been successful. I would agree they are putting passengers before profit and we found that out in April stuck in the ash crisis and really have to seriously start thinking about looking out for another cruise line that would suit us, or give cruising a miss for the next couple of years and stay with friends abroad instead !!
