Sorry Tex we are flying from Gatwick the week after you. Our flights are 9.45ish in the morning. Not sure whether you are flying from Scotland down to Gatwick

Nearly there, just ordered my foreign currency today!

    Hi Silverjan,

Hope you enjoy your trip at end of the month, we unfortunately have another year to wait before we can do ours, since we don't go til 2011, but I'll be expecting a full report of your cruise when you get back. Lol!!

    Have a great time

    Tex

    Baggage Allowance

    Hi,
We have just been advised that if we wish to take extra cases in May,
we have to contact BA, who will only charge £32 for additional 23KG's.

Yes Penny, the countdown is now seriously on. OH celebrated his birthday yesterday, and he will do that next year on Sea Princess in the Caribbean............what a thought......still can't wait. I've got the Princess Countdown on my desktop, so we're now at 354 days before we set sail. Do Princess have a welcome meeting on board or is there a special meeting arranged for Cruise.co.uk web site members to introduce themselves?

No there is no welcome party or as far as I know a cruise club get together either, muster stations is as good as it gets! All we need to know will either be on the TV or in the Princess Patter.

I've just booked to go on this cruise flying from Glasgow, would appreciate any feed back from anyone who is/have been on this ship for any information they think would be of interest to us. This is our first cruise and we don't know what to expect etc. I have also found out that our baggage allowance on the flight will be 23 kgs (this doesn't seem a lot), are there any Scots out there who have taken full kilt outfits with them with this luggage allowance and what to pack where?
Also the cost of any drinks packages that might be of interest, I tend to drink lots of water during the day (can drink up to 2 litres + a day), OH likes diet coke, as well as alcohol........Lol

    Thanks for any help

    Tex
Did you ever find out about your baggage alowance, Texmex? We've been told 23k hold + 7k carry-on in premium class? We find it's the shoes that are the problem. My husband is so fed up with the weight restrictions that he's hiring on board! Some people say travel in your dress shoes ... but if it's kilt kit, your brogues might be a bit much! There seems to be a 'soft drinks package' but we reckon we'll be off the boat most days. Look forward to seeing the outfit when we get on board! Galazio

Yip, have found out we are allowed 23kg and 5kg hand luggage, we're not in premium class didn't think it was worth the extra(we're Scots remember.. haha!!)after we looked into it, if we'd been given extra luggage allowance it might've been more attractive. My OH has said he is going to wear his kilt jacket onto the plane (both ways), so that will reduce a bit of the weight and he'll just have to take less of everything else and visit the laundry, whilst I'm up on deck taking in the sunshine... lol. Seriously, I'm sure we'll work something out. Look forward to meeting you on board.

No, we didn't want to bother with premium class either [I'm a Scot too!] but it was the only way we could get on a flight from Gatwick. Are you doing lots of excursions? We're doing it our own way mostly [I'm a Scot!] but really because we feel much freer to enjoy things without any time constraints ... and we're not the 'white water rafting 'type' [retired!]. By the way, I am sure by now someone else will have advised you to carry a set of clothes with you? The luggage often takes hours and hours to get to your cabin and after the flight you feel in need of a change before going up to eat on the first night. Thanks for getting back to me. Heather

Hi, we haven't really decided what we want to do for excursions, we're not "white water rafting" people either..or at least I'm not.. haha.
This is our first cruise and first time to Caribbean, so we don't really know what sights to go and see, so we'll probably play it by ear and see what happens. I'm sure there'll be folk on board or on this forum who've been before and can give ideas on what to see and do. Yeh, I'd read on the forum a while ago that we should take a change of clothing with us when we get to the ship cos we could wait for our baggage to arrive in cabin. We are booked into 8.15 dining, but we can always use the buffet if need be. Hope to see you on board. Margaret
