Hi Barrie, We were on Grand Princess last year and going again in April, (only 9 weeks to go). Last year we had a balcony cabin but got a mini-suite for the same price this year, also on Dolphin.

Although it is a bit older than the RCC ships we'd previously been on we liked the Grand Princess very much. The food was much better. We are hoping it will be a bit quieter this year as we were on during school holidays last year and there seemed to be a lot of teenagers whose behaviour left a lot to be desired.

Apart from that, which wasn't a huge problem, we had a lovely cruise and I'm sure you will too. Sorry can't help with the tendering question but anything else you want to know about the ship, just ask. I'm sure you'll get others contributing.

You'll find it a bit bigger than most FO vessels -just ask Dave
he just came back from Ventura, almost a sister ship.

If she's anything like Caribbean Princess inside, she'll be very nice! ;)

Wow Aplmac you are sooo clever.

Thanks for those pics I'm so looking forward to being back on her. When we first saw her in Southampton we wondered about the big 'odd-looking' bit at the back. It turned out to be our favourite part of the ship. Skywalkers bar so very high above the waves is always quiet for a bit of peaceful reading during the day and really great for music and dancing at night. (Well after the kiddiwinks have left at 10pm).

Must start looking out my disco gear!;)

Lovely to see such great pics of the Grand Princess. We sailed a couple of years on her and had a terrific time doing a Northern Europe/Around Britian cruise. We are hoping to go again this summer on a 24 Jul sailing to the Med but are having real trouble getting booked. 2 adults and a teenager. We usually have an inside or oceanview but all seem booked and suites only left. Has anyone got any ideas -I don't believe all booked at this stage and am sure allocations are out to all sorts and then some cabins will come back to sell. Appreciate any views on this please? Certainly can't afford a suite.

Most of your question/ concerns have been answered.

As far as tendering at Guernsey, if they follow the Sea Princess you are given a ticket for the tender, which then departs every ten minutes, once all the tours have gone, it was fairly quick, both getting off, and returning. This was even while a very heavy swell was running making docking hazzardous.

Mini-suites on Dolphin are mid-ships and nice, room service for breakfast is good and usually within ten minute of your selected time.
Although room service comes within the fixed gratuities, it is worth while giving a dollar/ pound once or twice to get that extra sharp service

You could book a 'guarantee'....and you might get upgraded? Were you able to book? We are on this sailing - hope you can join!
