    New to the cruise scene

    Hi all,
This is my/our first ever cruise, me my wife and our wee boy (11years old). We leave Southhampton on the 24th April 2010 aboard the Grand Princess.
My question is our wee boy is disabled and wheelchair bound, can anyone tell me if any of the pools onboard are sloped/ramped at one end where you can just walk in as we have a special chair which we can wheel straight into the pool then I can lift him straight out of the water., it is not a major issue as I can physically lift him into the water but it would be easier as I would have the buoyancy of the water to help.
Also can anyone tell me if you can take your own beer/lager on board for in the cabin, I know you can take wine/champagne onboard but I prefer to have a lager as oppossed to wine in my cabin before going for dinner.
    Thank you in advance.

We are so looking forward to our first cruise, just over 8 weeks and counting

The pool areas have a lap pool around them, shallow water to sit and wade in. Most ships have a chair hoist around the pool for assisting disabled persons in and out of the pool. I have just studied all the images I can find of the ships pool area and I cant actually see such a device. Maybe its out of shot but I am sure on a ship of this size there will be something to aid you. Hopefully someone will come back with a more definitive answer.
