Watch Emerald Princess in all her glory on Thursday 11th March on Channel 4’s ‘Glamour Puds’, where Master pâtissier Eric Lanlard will be preparing and serving one of his sumptuous desserts to the Captain and some officers and passengers, onboard the superliner in St Petersburg.
In the 2nd series of Glamour Puds’, the popular patisserie chef and owner of celebrity favourite Cake Boy Boutique, retraces the steps of the world’s first celebrity chef, Marie-Antoine Careme, from the 18th century. Eric’s journey takes him from Paris and the south of France to Vienna, Brighton and St Petersburg, following in Careme’s footsteps and cooking Careme’s recipes in the same chateaux and kitchens he would have used and recreating the same environments.
It is documented that Careme, who became famous for cooking for Napoleon, Tsar Alexandar and the Prince Regent, travelled to St Petersburg by sea and that he cooked for the crew onboard.
Princess Cruises invited Eric onboard Emerald Princess in St Petersburg during one of her Baltic cruises. The renowned chef is filmed preparing his dessert ‘Faberge Eggs’ in the galley of Sabatini’s, one of Emerald Princess luxury speciality restaurants, which is then served to the Captain and some officers and passengers.
Eric clearly enjoyed his time onboard: “I am a great fan of cruising and it was amazing to travel to St Petersburg on Emerald Princess, it’s a magnificent ship. I was also pleasantly surprised to be reunited in the galley with an old friend, Christophe Belin, who I trained with and is now the Executive Chef onboard! I look forward to my next Princess cruise adventure but as a holiday this time…no baking!”
