    welcome lynandbry.

there should be machines with gel at all restaurant doors for use before you go to eat. however so many people don't use it. you cannot be too carefull but I think some people go OTT about it. just remember to wash hands in hot soapy water after using the toilet and before you eat. use the MDR for all meals, if poss, as bugs can be transferred onto the serving spoon handles in the buffet. just go an enjoy your, hopefully bug free cruise. :D

don't want to work, just want to cruise.

Thankyou for your reply, this will be our 11th cruise but we have never knowingly sailed on a ship with a problem that has been going on for weeks. We look forward to it with trepidation having been refused a refund from Princess Cruises

It was only reported on 2 cruises and it really does look like they've been virus free now since 22nd May. Have you had a look at the Reviews for the past couple of cruises? Most are very positive.

I hope you have a good cruise and your fears will be unfounded.

maybe princess should do the same as other lines and not be honest when they have an outbreak .they dont have to mention it until 20% of the total ships capacity has it but they do. if you look through posts on here celeb and thompsons ships also have novo virus ,but other cruise lines keep it from us .

casspaul, I don't know if the outbreak on 2 cruises earlier this year was actually reported by Princess, there was certainly no mention of either in this site's Cruise News. It was passenger's reviews that brought it to attention on here.

There has never been any numbers verified and the ongoing passengers after the cruise I was on(24thApril/8thMay) knew nothing about it til they were onboard. At least the people going on to the ship after the 2nd outbreak(8thMay/22nd) on 22nd May were told before check-in that there had been an outbreak.

Thankfully that cruise and I presume others since then have been virus-free but I think Princess did not act entirely honourable to their passengers who should have been given the information on 8th May.

marie totaly agree with you , i think all lines should tell on coming passengers if they have had an out break on the previous cruise so we can take extra care.
i find it strange that some people go on fill in the pre cruise health declaration and are actually suffering from noro-virus and infect passengers with no regret .
we can only be more vigilant in our own safety measures as it will never be totaly eradicated

Hi we have just returned from a fab cruise on the Grand, no problems at all. There is hand gel at each restaurant and a crew member manning it so noone is missed. I heard of noone having the virus. I am sure you will have a great time.

    NV old salt's experience

Havent seen any mention of our most important measure. We have cruised for c20 times and have avoided the Lurgii[gripping Wood at this point!]. Since it reared its ugly we have NEVER used other than our cabin WC on board because the public WCs are still the most likely spreader. Wash your hands thoroughly there but remember there are others who dont, who then touch door handles etc when leaving. We do all the other basic gel and non-touching ploys but think that avoiding the Public WCs is the main preventer.
Hope this doesnt sound too patronising but both I and the young salt genuinely hope it helps avoiding you the Lurgi! We are there, wth every confidence, on July 3. Hope that we all voyage happily and safely.
    NB
A few others I forgot . Bring and frequently use your own hand gel. clean the obvious 'touch' areas in your shower/WC room with Antii Bac wipes before first use. Don't accept a cabin that is awaiting cleaning on 1st day. Dont touch the rails in lifts. Don't tolerate no Gel machines at gangplanks,.Complain!
Oh- and we are NOT moaning minnies:D
