Princess Cruises to welcome modern artists

Princess Cruises has announced that it will play host to a number of top contemporary artists during a series of special sailings over the coming months.

The company will operate its Art Connoisseur cruises in different regions across the world, with up to ten modern artists set to feature on each voyage.

Painter Howard Behrens, sculptor Bill Mack and marine life artist Wyland will all be participating in the programme, as well as Michael Godard, who is described by Princess Cruises as a "rock star of the art world".

The series will begin with a 12-day Mediterranean cruise on the Ruby Princess on July 4th, followed by itineraries in North America, the Aegean Sea, south-east Asia and other regions before the end of the year.

Jan Swartz, executive vice president of Princess Cruises, said: "These special sailings offer our passengers the opportunity to go behind the art by meeting the artists and learning more about what inspires their work.

"Passengers often find a new artist whose work they enjoy, or learn more about one they've admired. Others simply like exploring the world of art and the work of an artist."

Each voyage will provide the opportunity for passengers to buy artworks at auctions.
