Take dollars with you and just keep them in your safe. There was no cash machine last Christmas on the Sea Princess and friends had problems getting currency. If they used their debit card on certain islands then they were given the local currency rather than American Dollars. Thus they had to try and work out what they would need for that day and just get enough. They did go to local banks but had to carry their passports/cards round with them all day. We just took dollars and settled some of our account with what we had left at the end of the trip. Enjoy - it is a wonderful ship/staff

We took £1000 in US dollars and then about another $70 in one dollar notes (which we try to keep for tips, etc). We used local transport for our trips which varied in price. Usually we spent about $40-$50 dollars (for both) each day to go in a minibus with the other people on our dining table for an island tour/beach. We had a light lunch on the beach with a few!!! drinks. We didn't buy a lot of things - just Tshirts, etc on the islands - oh, nearly forgot, bottles of wine to take back on the ship. The money we took was really plenty (for us). We then used the remaining money to pay part of our ship's account. Hope this helps but really I suppose it is 'how long is a piece of string' regarding what you spend. You certainly could have spent much less than we did but if you like shopping then MUCH more!!

Hi again, yes, it was the Sea Princess. We went over Christmas and new year - had a wonderful time. The majority of passengers were British (about 95%) - probably because there are several charter flights from here - and they definitely did adhere to the formal dress code. I wore cocktail dresses whilst my husband wore his tux. A lot of women wore long dresses and there were lots of very expensive ones!!! The other evenings MY husband wore slacks/shirt whilst I wore summer dresses or trousers/top. To be honest I was proud of us British on formal evenings because we all 'turned out well' - children and teenagers also looked wonderful. My husband was a bit worried about wearing a tux for the first time but now he loves getting dressed up and has different shirts/bow ties to add a bit of change.

Yes, majority of the market for Sea Princess out of Barbados are charters from UK and most run by P&O.
We will be your 5 % as we have family in Barbados.

Question, how many of the men did you see who wore tuxes as I normally wear a dark suit or blazer and gray pants.

    Cheers

Hi, Most men wore their tux on the formal evenings (both white and black) but a dark suit would be just the same. We were there over Christmas and New Year so whether that makes a difference I don't know. Nearly forgot - a number wore kilts/jackets and very smart they looked too.

Yes, we are booked for the Sea Princess on November 15, 2010 Barbados / Barbados 14 day cruise.

In our case we will fly from Victoria, Vancouver Island Canada to Barbados prior for a few weeks then take the cruise than stay in Barbados with family for week or so before flying back.
Sea Princess will not be doing this run in 2011 as it is being assigned to the Australia / New Zealand market.

Sea Princess is doing this run at least until the end of March, beg of April 2011, we don't fly out to Barbados until 21 March 2011 to join Sea Princess for 14 days cruising.

    Texmex,
Correct as they normally run out the season prior to the major repositioning to Australia for its seasons runs in Fall 2011
Will do a reposition to San Francisco (22 days) then do the San Francisco to Alaska 10 days runs (May - September 2011) which it normally does after the Barbados season. I see it on the second week of each month as it stops in Victoria.

Its final voyage will be to Australia in mid September 2011 and then commence New Zealand / Australia circle runs.

Hawaii/Tahiti & South Pacific: San Francisco to Sydney - 29 Day Cruise
This itinerary features a 29-day cruise with 14 ports of call, including visits to Honolulu, Papeete, and Fiji. Meals and entertainment are inclusive.
    Ship: Sea Princess
Voyage Embarkation Port: San Francisco, California
    Number of Days: 29 Days
Embarkation Date: Sunday September 17, 2011

    Have a great trip
