    Isn't that a bit extreme?
That's 200-300 gals. of hot water during that 10 mins. - it adds up!

You won't be able to do that when you're in the Grenadines
because you'll run all of Mustique dry!
    :D
    .

Design flow rate of a shower (unboosted)
    0.2 litres/secound (min 0.1) so
    0.2 x 60 = 12 litres per min x 10 = 120 litres of wasted water that
would not be hot enough to kill any bugs in fact the condense created is more likely to spread any bacteria
Ships showers are boosted so often have a higher flow rate.
What a waste of water and fuel

    Boudicca norovirus

I have been on fred olsens boudicca, and as good as the food and entertainment,it was very good, but there is really a problem with that ship,5 cruises in a row as far as been shown in newspapers and bbc website.,with a severe norovirus outbreak, i was very careful, having worked for nhs i was very careful and thorough with hygene, yet i myself was struck down with the bug,as well as many many others, the ship was on red alert for most of the cruise,it certainley was coming from somewhere,i dont think the passengers, everyone was being critical of washing hands and using sprays, infact we were not allowed to touch anything without getting sprayed, not one person was allowed anywhere near food or drink, without a spray of anti bacterial,so where is it coming from

It is airborne it had a real hold on this ship but you need to look at % averages of all ships sailing in the same area, at the same time to get a real understanding of the problem. :o

Very sorry to hear this but you are the second person I have heard from in the last few days to say there is noro on her again. Friends sailed in the summer and they said they were ill. I am quite disturbed by this as we are booked on another cruise in the spring and I have a medical condition which means I am easy prey for bugs. I got it the last time we sailed on Boudicca and beside the inconvenience (being confined to your cabin etc) the pool etc is shut down and that cuts your enjoyment even more. No self service etc.

I agree there does seem to be something really wrong here and I am fed up with posts on this and other forums just blaming it on passengers. We all know that passengers bring it on board but it is very unusual in the summer and if it has it on now what will it be like in November. This ship has had so many so called deep cleans it must be sparkling and the cleanest ship in the world's merchant navy. (Actually, in fairness she is very very clean, one of the big plus points for Fred).

We like FO but if this persists then maybe its time for a change. Yes it is on all other ships, in hospitals, schools, shops etc., but Boudicca seems to have had it as a regular problem for the last twelve months, she is such a lovely ship, the food is great, the crew smashing and she is just the right size to be comfortable and not intimidating.

Hopefully they will get it sorted out again but it must be quite soul destroying for the ship's crew to be continually dealing with this.

We were on the Boudicca for 4 weeks last winter. We were on a red alert throughout the journey. In spite of this, a passenger that had been feeling ill went to the dining room and had a meal, went to the cabin, and THEN called the doctor!
    So what can FO do??
Luckily my wife and I stayed clear of it, and we are going FO again this coming winter.

I do not understand why people go to the restaurant when they feel ill. We were on a cruise very recently, and a woman vomited over the table at lunchtime. Not only was this very unpleasant for the other people sitting there, but by the time the mess was cleaned up by the staff I should think most of the people from that area were at risk if Norovirus is spread by airborne spores from the vomit. Please, if you feel ill, stay in your cabin! Dont spoil the holiday for others by spreading your bugs round the ship.

I totally agree with this as the same thing happened to me. We had only just embarked and left Porstmouth and were on first sitting when the woman on the next table (sitting adjacent to me) was sick. Surely, she knew when she came on board she was ill and certainly would have done so while she was waiting to go into the restaurant. It was most unpleasant for myself and husband and the people sharing her table. I later developed noro on the cruise and blame it on her. All these people need to do is confine themselves to their cabin until they feel well. Totally selfish attitude.

I always thought that's what the pre cruise medical questionnaires were for, to weed out those people that are ill and to stop them getting onboard? So many people flaunt this (So that they don't loose their holiday!) that there should be financial penalties for those that lie.

We have seen a family turned away from Manchester airport at the questionnaire stage when checking in to board a flight to the caribbean to meet OV. They actually had the nerve to show up in the check in queue with their 10/12 year old daughter vomitting into a bowl

These are the kind of people that are putting your health at risk .....

We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.
