Azura EXCLUSIVE: What's on the menu?

P&O have given us the menus for Sindhu, the Indian fine dining restaurant aboard Azura....

Sindhu Menu A Sindhu Menu B

I don't know about you, but the dishes on offer look far superior to those at my local curry house! (I may have to see if we can get a table booked for the Azura launch :D)

‘Master of Spices’, Atul Kochhar, is the creator of Azura’s exciting Sindhu restaurant where he will showcase his unrivalled flair for fine dining Indian style. He artfully balances the big bold flavours of his homeland’s spices with the delicate and modest tastes and textures of familiar ingredients, creating dishes such as Jal Tarang – Spice crusted scallops with Grape and Mint Dressing.

I think P&O are on to a winner... Afterall, the Brits LOVE good curry...

What do you think? Do these menus entice YOU?

I was salivating at the though.

However the menus are quite different to the average UK Indian restaurant/takeaway. This is not necessarily a bad thing. I've certainly never had: "Tandoori Monk Fish with Green Chutney, Curd Rice & Green Sauce".

I think it is disappointing to see only one vegetarian option on each menu. It wouldn't encourage me to eat there.

I was just about to say the same thing!

It's as if someone says, "...and I suppose we'd better have something for the vegetarians..."

    Tradition

P & O have always had good Indian dishes on their ships with an Indian night on more than one occasion so if anyone can do it well they can.

And to the Vegetarians out there I am sure that given a little pre-warning they would come up with some super meals for you, they have done it before so no reason why they shouldn't do it with this restaurant. After all some of the best vegetarian dishes come from Indian recipes. In my humble opinion. ....Neil

Having not done P&O for many years, one thing I do remember is they were renown for the lunch time curries. There was always a curry on the menu for lunch. This was in the days of no buffet; the dinner gong went and you got dressed and went to the Dining room for lunch. Silver service lunch and there was always a proper Goa'n curry, as of course P&O crew were in the main from Goa. The waiter would serve the curry then come around with an enormous round sectioned platter, full of condiments such as raisins, coconut, almond, shredded onions, tomatoes, chutney, cucumber, nuts, etc etc. I have often wondered if they kept up the tradition of the lunch time curry.

Going on the Azura at the end of June, so I'll make a point of tasting all the curries I can (yum yum). Best ones I ever tasted were in Birmingham and a little place all by itself in Brecon. The wife's an expert in the various Tandoories, so we'll have fun together.
