On 1 December 2009, Ocean Village will launch its 2010 brochure including full details of its farewell summer aboard the original ship.
The launch will be followed by a £500,000 multiplatform TV ad campaign in January next year, with spots on ITV1 in the North, Central and Scotland and national coverage on GMTV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and digital TV including Sky.
There has been a strong demand from passengers, having a significantly greater % of next summerís accommodation already sold than at this time last year. 48% of all passengers already booked are past guests booked.
This builds on the record-breaking run of comment form scores from the original Ocean Village ship this summer, with the target 90%+ scores being achieved for nearly six consecutive months.
Featuring five brand new destinations, the Central Med cruise itineraries between Crete and Palma are proving the most popular with repeat bookers, with opportunities to visit Cagliari in Sardinia, Messina in Sicily, Marmaris in Turkey, La Spezia in Italy and Toulon in the South of France for the first time.
Newcomers to the brand still make up the largest proportion of passengers however, with the Eastern Med cruises to Venice, Cairo and Istanbul proving popular with those with some cruise experience. Most first time cruisers, meanwhile, are opting for the big-name resorts and cities of the Western Med such as Monte Carlo, Rome, Barcelona, Florence and Pisa.
With Ocean Village being popular, it makes you wonder why they decided to walk away from it?

Two ships totalling about 3000 passengers on mainly 7 night cruises.
Island cruises also had 2 ships of about the same capacity.
Next summer only 2 ships left and in 2011 just the Island Escape.
Whoo! £312 million income, there must be a business opportunity there.
Apparently the all inclusive (in a broad sense, not booze) nature of cruises is now more attractive to british holidaymakers because of the recession.

Just back from our first cruise on a RCI ship. Bring back OV thats what we say !!
There is simply no comparison between RCI and OV. They both offer very contrasting cruises, attract a different audience, but the result is the same - you either love of hate them. I no many people would would not take a FREE cruise on OV and also many that keep away from RCI. Each to their own.
