Packets of wet wipes are useful to carry in your bag....also little tubes of antiseptic gel (superdrug have a travel section with these) ....I usually wear strappy tops and take a long sleeved shirt to put over when in religious areas or in hot sun....I also find crinkly lightweight 'beach' trousers (BHS and M & S sell them) really nice and cool for places like Cairo and Luxor which will be really hot....we were in Cairo last week and it was 35 degs.

Take lots of bottled water with you on trips. Thomson offer excellent range of trips at a good price and with excellent organisation and security (armed guards on coaches and police escorts to Cairo and Luxor) ....in my opinion it is not worth trying to do any private trips.

As Dave says trainers are better than sandals as you will get sand and dust on your feet...

Take some insect repellant spray as the flies at Port Sokhna are usually buzzing around and annoying !!

We got back on 11th March (I want to go again!!) the weather was lovely, around 27 deg.C during the day and 20 at night, we did not wear a cardie or jumper all week. If you dine at Meridian restaurant try to keep to the same time for evening meals and your waiters will try to keep your table ready for you. Ours was called Jimbo and if you ask for him, tell that his "parents" from the cruise on the 4th March recommended him. He is lovely and will do anything to make your cruise memorable. Weather at Petra is changeable, When we were there it was hot,in the high 20's but the previous week the trip was cancelled because of Snow!!! Check at reception the night before for up to date forecast. Have a great time....I know you will.
