Going on Celebration next week need advice

Hiya, newbie here, we have booked a last minute for red sea cruise next week, all i know is that we have a outside cabin 1/2, I have no idea what to pack. I dont want to take everything but the kitchen sink LOL

I had thought i would pack smart casual for evening, shorts /vest tops for days as i have checked weather it says hot!! Does it get very cold at night?
Do i need to cover up when we go on trips out?? We plan on doing most of the trips.

What do you get in cabins..towels/kettle/coat hangers etc??
    Is there mosquitoes??

Anyone got any good tips for first timers.

    Many thanks
    Angela

    Hi Angela,

Did this cruise in '08 with our children

If you are visiting religious sites then you'll need to cover from knees to elbows ~ a pashmina ( carry it in your bag at other times) and culottes or a long shorts are fine.

Take a look at my Petra guides on here : just type petra in the search bar ~ the weather can be chilly to freezing at that altitude! ~ Have since added the links above to make it easier
No kettle as far as I can remember. towels and coathangers are provided.

Hemmingways bar can get chilly so the pashmina I mentioned earlier will double up to keep the chill off.

I didn't have any problems with mosquitos, but it can be dusty ~ take a small pack of baby wipes with you to freshen up on the coach.

Other than that enjoy, prices are reasonable on board ship and even better if you've had the AI upgrade :D

Cabins are OK but dated, pool areas have a nice amount of loungers and the bars and entertainment are pleasant.

    Enjoy Shelley x

The phrases on this page will help you out in both Jordan & Egypt

Jordan ~ Petra / Egypt a few basic Arabic Phrases

This page has my basic guide to Petra, lunch at the Movenpick was wonderful and appreciated after the coach trip:

Hi Angela, we did this trip in February and it was cold, snow at Petra but as you say it is hot, just make sure you have a light jacket or cardigan for evening on deck should you need it. They do have formal nights but we did not go, so smart casual is good for theatre etc. Take a spray just in case, we were pestered with flies which drives you crazy. If your weather is going to be hot i suggest you take a blouse because you may get caught in the open when visiting The Pyramids, Petra etc, also some lotion. Fantastic holiday, have fun.We had a great time and i took loads of photo's.We thought organised tours were good value and we were well looked after.

I got mine on Celebration ~ 2 for £15 one pink and one turquoise. They also do a selection at most airports

No probs it's what we're all on here for:D

If we all make one cruisers life easier and stop them having to worry about something then all's good!

Sensible shoes for walking on excursions. e.g. trainers, sandals are not a good idea.
No kettles in the cabins but free tea/coffee 24/7 from the buffet.
Plenty of towels provided including a blue one for the pool and maybe even beach. If you leave a towel on the bathroom floor they will replace it with a clean one.
Plenty of coat hangers and you can ask for more.
Try opening your suitcase and storing it under the bed.
Captains formal night dress code only applies to the main dining room, if you don't go to formal night use the Lido instead that evening.
Book your excursions early. Fill in the form in your cabin and pop it up to destination services, if there is a queue post it in the box provided.
Take some tissues on the trips in case the local toilets have run out, the hotels are OK though.
The main dining room is good, if you like your waiters you can ask to go to the same table each night and they will try and accommodate you.
Other posters reckon the overnight Luxor trip is better as it is more relaxing and the hotel is very good.
