    MSC Opera - advice, please

    Hi,
I am due to take my first cruise in August on the MSC Opera.
Can anyone please tell me a few do's and don'ts? Would I be allowed to take (and use!) a travel kettle for an early morning cuppa? Would I be allowed to use my hair straightners? Will I need an electrical adapter? If so, what will I need to get? Is it safe to use the water in the bathroom for teeth cleaning, etc, or do you need to use bottled water?
Sorry - loads of questions. Hope someone will be able to help.
    Thanks

    Hi,

Don't bother taking a kettle use room service as a wake up call ~ it's free for breakfast along with pastries and cereals.

Hair straightners are ok just remember your euro plug adaptor and maybe a four bar as the plugs can be in awkward places.

The water in the bathroom is good for drinking it has just been desalinated and chlorinated.

    Hope this helps

Early morning cuppa :- order from room service (take a supply of your favourite tea bags), it's free have the continental breakfast as well

Water from the tap is perfectly useable for brushing your teeth, remember if you couldn't use it for teeth you'd have real problems keeping it out of your mouth in a shower.

Buy some bottled of water in the first port of call for use when leaving the ship at ports of call it's expensive to buy the ship's bottled water.

adapter:- need one for chargers, the type I always take is the universal travel adapter available at airport and some trvel acessory shops. Quote from MSC broucher:-"The current on board for all the ships is 110/220V. Passengers may request electrical outlet adapters from the information office" Never tried that myself so not sure whether they have enough or if there is a charge for them.

electrical items with high wattages like kettles, irons, hair straighteners/curlers present significant fire hazards and should not be used.

    Hope this helps

You certainly can use the tap water in your cabin. Take a small water bottle, fill it and chill it in the fridge overnight to take off the ship with you. There are water dispensers on deck 11 at the Il Patio restaurant and in the Le Vele buffet restaurant on the same deck. Use their plastic cups. Filling water bottles is a no-no on account of cross contamination. However see my review about hand cleansing dispensers and minimising contamination.

Sadly no, I am on from the 6th July---I usually have a cabin on my own and this cruise I am having a family cabin with My Neice and her two children .Love them to bits but it might be too much on a cruise -I hope not --
    Regards Flora x
