thanks for the info, all makes sense....

have tried three times and am getting only one option which is
'close message'. I am browsing into my photo's on my PC. The pics I want to attach ahve been downloaded earlier and are in my gallery. Would it be easier to access them from there?:o

    Hi there.

Our first cruise was on the Escapes sister ship (now somewhere else!) the Island Star. We absolutely loved it and we have been addicted to cruising ever since.

Although we have been on perhaps more "luxurious" cruises since we still have very fond memories of the Island. Although the cabins were a little tired (but sparklingly clean) the rest of the ship was spick and span and the service was the friendliest we have ever experienced. Staff always had time for you and made a point of stopping to smile and chat at every opportunity. The food was very good and my husbands still rates it as his favourite so far.

Try not to be too worried about it being a former ferry as it is certainly not the only such converted cruise ship sailing.

Things can go wrong on any cruise so go with the intention of enjoying yourself and ignoring the minor niggles. I am sure you will have a fantastic time- there is nothing that beats a first cruise!!! Regards Julia

Have never been with Island so can't comment on the ships but we have friends who have done numerous cruises with them and love it.

From what I've been told (and this is only hearsay) many enjoy the informality of not having to dress up but there are also those that don their evening wear and enjoy the whole cruise experience.

We also have other friends whose 1st cruise experience was Island, they are now trying various cruise lines after becoming "hooked" so they must have enjoyed their first.

I went on island escape july 09 we had a deluxe balcony and have booked for march 11 with the same deluxe balcony, ok its not the most modern ship, the cabins aren't the biggest but my husband requires space to get around a room and he thought the cabin was a decent size hence booking it again and the balcony is massive in those cabins.
The cabin is at the back of the ship, yes you do get vibration when the ship is coming and going out of port but didn't bother us I slept though it most mornings if arriving in port early so not that bad. As we have found out you get good and bad reviews about any ship or hotel, but we found this ship so friendly, no one thinking they were better than you, nice and easy going we totally rested and so needed it after sorting out our wedding for the past 12 months. The cabins were kept very clean and as for the virus that goes around just look at how many other ships have had the same virus, at the end of the day if people do not wash their hands etc as much as possible this will happen.
Hope you have a lovely time as I intend to do in march.

    Helen

We have just returned from a 7 day cruise on the Island Escape (August 2010), and had a few reservations about the ship after reading some of the reviews, but these disappeared within an hour of boarding. We found the ship spotlessly clean, although as other people say, parts of it could do with tidying up and modernising. You should go on board with the expectation that it will not be 5 star luxury, and it’s not the largest or most modern ship, but you are not paying 5 star prices. The ship is comfortable, the quality of the food, entertainment and service is excellent, and makes this a great relaxing value for money cruise.

Not been on the ship myself but someone I work with has and they had a good time. They said the entertainment was first class as we found when we went on Thomsons Celebration. As somene else has said it is not the best ship but Im sure you will have a good time and you can always cruise again on another ship. You will have a bit of luxury in you cabin, Im sure and the sunsets will be wonderful whatever ship you are on.Have a great time. It will be whay you make it, enjoy.
