    Island Escape Rescue

I have just been speaking with my son who is the engineer on one of Falmouth's 3 tugs, he tells me that they have been notified that the Island Escape is expected in Falmouth on Friday morning at approx 10.45 am with holiday makers who have been stranded . Hopefully I won't be here but in Southampton, waiting for the Eclipse, I have spoken to one of the pilots I know and have asked him to keep me informed of the Eclipse when she enters the Western Approaches on her way to Southampton , wasn't it great that the Island Escape, and the Eclipse went to the rescue, OK I know they are probably being paid by the travel companies but, they give those stranded a feeling of relief.

As well as bringing all those stranded passengers back to Falmouth, on a ship that normally never visits these shores, they have then laid on an extra 13 day cruise from Falmouth, at a cost from £495 I believe.

Yes Del boy I think that is right, Morris from St Columb posted this morning regarding the cruise , not bad wonder how stable she is,crossing Biscay, no good to non flyer's as I suppose you will have to fly back.
I was just reading the Western Morning News and she will be in late Thursday and passengers will embark Friday morning, they quoted 5,ooo passengers , I think it will be chaos with all those passengers disembarking, they have even made an extra coach park out of another site because the docks can't accommodate all this extra people and traffic

Island Escape should have been sailing from Tenerife on Friday. We were booked to fly from EMA to join it for it's Atlantic Sunrise cruise. We are now to get a coach from EMA to Falmouth and have been informed of a change of itinerary. Dropping The Canaries and Madeira, and new ports in NW Spain and Portugal. As far as I am aware it will finish in Majorca as planned, and then we will be flying back to EMA.

Hi Tony, It's now been changed to 2700 passenger's, they are anchoring out in the bay on Thursday night, and then coming into the docks for disembarkation for 10.45am, customs are also coming down from Plymouth . There will certainly be quite a few coaches going to and fro on Friday, one blessing the weather is going to be warmer as the winds are now coming from the South, you may be interested to know that the Grand Princess is visiting Falmouth tomorrow, she's to big to come in and will anchor out in the bay off the Black Rock, hope you have a great cruise.

Thanks for the info. We weren't very optimistic about going until we heard about the change to Falmouth yesterday. I'm sure that we will enjoy.

Yes it certainly is Sue , I am just going down to catch a glimpse of the Grand Princess, its nice and sunny so I can use the Glasses, I have been looking from the bedroom window.can't see her yet. As for the Island Escape I shall probably see her out in the bay tonight all lit up I hope, but we will be on our way tomorrow for the naming of the Eclipse (we hope) so will miss her tying up in the docks.I think it will be best to leave early as their will be a lot of coaches and cars in Falmouth tomorrow.
