    Hi

Jan's a list addict ... and I'm happy to find we rarely forget anything important, also spend hours on CC and here to make the most of our time in port, and also avoid overspending on cruise company excursions.

please please can I join the club

I spend ages researching which cruise/ship and price. then I talk about it from the day of booking to anyone that will listen :D I pack the day before as all our flights have been 6am to 8am however it only takes me an hour or so to pack without a list! I have never forgot anything well nearly never and never anything of mine ;) I dont do lists but I do do a lot of photo copying/downloading and printing at least 3 copies of everything from.... our passports, insurance documents, intinnery, TA's details, flight times, flight nos., ship/cruise line phone nos., car parking details and anything else that can be reprinted! I take at least one set of copies with me, one to my elder daughter and one in a drawer in the house. I always have travellers checks etc just incase hubbie surprises me with a cruise, he will one day, I hope I read this site and sometimes CC for pointers. I start a countdown from 10 fingers, opps sorry I mean weeks, then from 10 sleeps. When we come home we show the photos to anyone with a set of eyes :D Does this qualfly me as an anorak?

Did anyone mention those over the door shoe organizers ? It's ideal for all those odds and ends you take.

Its a term given to someone who has a hobby considered to be boring to most people. For me it conjurs up an image of a 'Roy Cropper' (Coronation Street) type person with their anorak on 'train spotting' - get the picture?

A clever ruse to teach him to pack himself;) I did this with his wash bag which sat in the bathroom after he had shaved before we left....quite how it was my fault eluded me!!!
    Hi Shelley and everyone,
It's the opposite in our house. I have to make sure all DW's perfume, roll on and other toiletries are packed.

I've been doing lists for years, can't cope though with them on spreadsheets on the PC. All handwritten.
And print outs of ports of call and excursions.

And Liz, don't you pack an anorak already?
Ours were a lifesaver in April last year in the Western Med. the weather was worse than at home.

I can confirm RWG2's recommendation of the SAS Raddison in Manchester airport..
It was worth the cost staying there for the breakfast alone

We get Emmerdale and Coronation Street here in Malta - but episodes are more than a year old. Eastenders are about a week old, so not bad.
I had never heard the anorak expression before - you live and learn.
    I suppose all the

I suppose all the regulars on these boards qualify don't they ? So many of my friends can't understand that part of the fun of a cruise is the months of preperation and research.
On the inaugural cruise of the Gem, I impressed everyone with my knowledge.......... and felt rather smug too.

The only essentials are 1. cruise tickets and paperwork 2.passports 3.bank and credit cards and money, anything else you have forgotten you can buy! or can you, is there something you pack that is irreplacable? for us it is a stupid little rubber figure about 4inches high that is called 'reindog' because it looks like a dog but with antlers, that I bought my OH about 15 christmas's ago and he used to take it away on business to remind him of me (don't ask!) If I ever go away without him I always find it somewhere in my luggage -aahhh cute hey-:o Carol
