RCI will collect your Bags but

For those who don't want to carry your bags to Southampton RCI have recently launched another money spinning solution for you. For £35 per bag (each way) upto 30kgs RCI will collect your bags from your home and deliver them to your stateroom on IOTS at Southampton.

What will they think of next?

For anyone that flies down from Scotland, it might be cheaper than excess baggage

    Brian,

I had the same thought. A couple of years ago we travelled as a group of 4 plus junior, we didn't want to take two cars, but could not fit all the luggage into one. Opted to hire a A6 estate in the end. Not the cheapest option but a pleasure to drive.

I'm sure RCI will have done the maths. Any idea who they use?

    Vinny

I think thats a great idea for those of us in the north. Could've flown to Southampton fairly cheaply but the luggage restriction & excess baggage charges made the decision for us..... so we drove. Had that option been available I'd have been tempted to use it, since it saves driving time, petrol & overnight accommodation (all adds up!)
On the subject of carriers, I assume they'd use someone like DCL or FedEx. Post cruise, I left a case in friends car when they picked us up at port to take us to collect our car. Only realised when we got home that I'd left case (won't tell you what hubby called me!!) Anyway long story short, contacted Fed Ex & they picked up case (had to box it) & delivered it for around £25. I thought that was fairly reasonable, so if RCI offered same service I would use it.

I would use it - 4 people and 4 lots of luggage travelling in a Nissan note from Hull to Southampton wasn't much fun. It would have been far better to pay up and travel in comfort

Hey do we southerners get a discount as it's not so far ;) :D

    It's a great idea

I wonder how it compares with say the cost of a train or coach without the hassle of luggage and the cost of fuel and parking for your car

Or for the less fit amoung us it opens a whole new way of travel that could not be used due to lugging all those bags
