Christiaan, I believe that you live in Australia. We were talking to our friends in Perth and discovered that they paid around £800 per person more than we were quoted for a particular Celebrity cruise. They had booked direct with Celebrity using the Australian website. They contacted Celebrity and were eventually allowed to re-book through the UK site without losing their deposit and saved £800 each. We checked with our UK travel agent and they told us they could make international bookings and our friends could book with them in future.

I know it's not convenient but it may be worth checking before you book your next cruise.

If there is an administrator about, can Cruise.Co.UK make bookings for ex UK clients?
That would be a huge saving for us, thanks so much . We do have a family address in the UK and European passports so hopefully it will be possible.

Of course the airfares are a considerable addition so we have to make it worthwhile. Again , many thanks .

    Hi All
Booked a cruise 2 weeks ago on Thomson Dream for next April for 10 of us.
Paid £49 each for A/I,got a phone call from TUI yesterday saying they had made a mistake + A/I is free + they would issue a new invoice less £490.

Well thank you. At least we know what to do....... change our travel agent !

When I enquired about this clause he said he had never heard of it.

Christiaan I realise you are in OZ so I can't comment on the way of the world of the Australian Travel Agent, but in the UK and the USA, RCI/Celebrity/Azamara have a price promise i.e. if the price of your grade of cabin goes down you can claim back the difference.

As a general rule in the UK the High St travel shops (the branded names) do NOT honour the price promise and many are clueless to its existence, whereas the Specialist Cruise Agents do, so it may be worth you checking out the same scenario in OZ.

I have phoned TA already and princess today both say there is nothing they can do,there is still alot of good cabins left so maybe maybe an upgrade is due
It may have been better to say which cruise line you booked with so that we could have talked about that particular one. Princess, and P&O are quite strict with their rules and you will be very lucky to get even an upgrade. Writing nicely, believe it or not, is one of the most productive ways but as Macro says "Don't hold your breath".

We have had long discussions on this site about when the best time is to book a cruise and most opinions sway towards booking later rather than early. The more knowledge you have about what influences bookings and when cruises are more likely to be well booked the better but until then you have to learn from experience or by reading all that is in various cubby holes of this site.

My advice on this one is to see whether the cost of cancelling and re-booking will allow you a profit and give you what you want or to keep pressing for an up-grade and put it down to experience. Most of us have, at some time or other, paid dearly for experience. ….Neil

    Yes Jimbo

Last time we stopped in Brunei for two days on the way over and in Dubai and Brunei again on the way back.

It's such a long journey that we need at least one stopover. Of course it depends which airline we use but thinking of flying Emirates next time as we have friends in Dubai and would like to spend more time there. Also have friends in Austria and Belgium as well as family in UK so try to do as much as possible while in your hemisphere! Usually takes several weeks.

    Thanks Wilba

I will check it out here, it seems everyone tells a different story ! However if we do book through a UK agent or a US agent it should still be a simple process I hope.

I am so thankful to find this site and be given such good advice from more experienced travellers.

    Regards

I have just found out that my cruise I have booked has gone down in price by £200 pp,so have lost £400 straight away and the company will not do a thing even as a good will guesture :mad::mad::mad:
I'm sorry you feel ripped off. No one likes that. However, console yourself that you chose the itineary you wanted, on the ship you wanted, at the time you wanted, and probably the cabin you wanted at a price you thought fair at the time. Now stop looking at offers and please don't let it spoil your holiday. Judith
