After the book has absorbed its share of the sun for half an hour, I am sure it could do with a nice dip in the pool. I would be more than happy to assist with ensuring it has a good cool down in the water, while I lay on its sunbed and make sure no one else takes its place.
Many years ago we stayed in a hotel in Tenerife we went out for the evening and returned about five in the morning :p and you guessed it towels were already out and not a soul about. I did what you all have wanted to do, gathered some up and dumped them in the pool.

To be honest I've never understood the fascination of lying in the sun all day, but surely books have the same rights as everyone else.
Mark my words, it won't be long before we get complaints that the books in the library just sit there on the shelves all day long and never make any contribution to life on board!

My OH has done the towel/pool chuck manouevre when really angry, but may I suggest his more measured and subtle trick : Arriving like you, back at the resort in the early hours to find all the beds covered with towels and books and neatly pushed into family groups round the (too few) parasols, we spent a pleasant half an hour rearranging all the towels, books and beds, mixing up the reading material and reassigning parasols . The next day we watched the entertainment from the safety of the bar - what fun we had!!! and totally free!!

Perhaps they are taking reading lessons - or at the very least, starching their lips so they don't move as they read.

Celebrity now have Pool Butlers and part of their job is removing towels, books etc. off sunbeds and returning them to reception for your collection......Maybe other lines will take note.........Wilba
Did you actually see it work Wilba??? Perhaps the hoggers aren't out in full force at this time of year!
