Well the cruise deals are certainly coming thick and fast now!

Yes, of course they're going to try to flog us cruises - that's their business. But it didn't happen for a long time though, did it? I still think a forum is a place to discuss things, so I'm sure Cruise Dot aren't going to mind negative, as well as positive, comments on their offers.

I can understand why people "drop out" after a time. I had followed the forum for quite some time before I decided to join in with my two pennies worth. Mainly because I felt I had things to contribute. I had been answering questions on the Q&A page before I got onto the forum. I have cruised a lot in my life and I have also had the experience of working on cruise ships. I am interested in ships in general. So I thought I would join in.
I never went on the I am new to the site thread to introduce myself so no one welcomed me aboard. Maybe I should have done. I just got stuck in and sent what I thought was informative posts. I did once start a new thread and was immediately shouted down and the replies were sarcastic. So that was a bit of an off put as I thought it could have been an interesting post. Then I have had a run in with someone over a post which got rather personal towards me. Although it was sorted in the end! I have since stopped posting as much. I have a lot of knowledge of cruising and thought maybe I had some good input but now I feel it is a bit of "clique" on here so I have pulled back from posting as much.

Don't let them put you off, luv. ;)

The first thing to realize is that this can be a contentious forum
quite unlike the other one at CC
    - and so I've learned to take the lot of them at the cruise.co forum with a decent pinch of salt! :D

From my point of view, it's nice to have both forums at my disposal
because when I get fed up with this lot
I go over to CC and do my thing over there until that spirit runs out
-then come back here to see if they're being more civil (improved weather?)
or if any meaningful threads have been posted.

Just don't take them too seriously.
And be just as contentious as they're being, if not more so.

    Hi Maggie

I feel the same way . Please read my last post which is an answer to Carol in Rants, Raves and Grumbles.

Spontaneity is not a good idea evidently, there are many sensitive souls out there!

Hi Maggiemou, Belated welcome to the forum You may or may not be aware that I have been given a lot of advice from members over the last week regarding a post I made, some obvious to a child, some good, some a bit condesending and some sarcastic, although the posters probably didn't think it was themselves.

Like you I was annoyed at the time at some of the comments, as you say can be personal, but not to be beaten and with the support of some members I am still here.

My initial intention was, if they want sarcasm I can give as good as I get if I have to. But on reflection, I'm not that sort of person, I still believe, that if you cannot say anything good about someone then keep your mouth shut. I'm not going to repeat any of them to you, I dont need to as most are obvious anyway. The number of sincere posters on here out number the not so sincere ones.

Welcome back to the forum, dont be a stranger and as one member said to me, 'dont let them beat you down' and I'm not going to either.

    Best wishes......David

Hi all and thanks for the welcome back. Not that I had gone far, but still and happy to join in when I need to. Just been to Limassol port where I have donated my mountain bike to The Mission to Seafarers. There is a ship laid up here and some crew members cant get around here in sunny Cyprus on foot, so a cry went out by their Chaplain for bikes to be donated. I have given mine as been a bit of an old sea dog myself I felt sorry for them stuck here in a country they don't know with no transport. Plus it is an excuse for me to get a new one!

Thanks Sue, and yes your spelling is correct. Nicosia is now a flourishing city on the Southern side ( Greek) with lots of designer shops and malls. The Northen side less upmarket as it as been under occupation from Turkey (35 years) but you can now "cross over" the green line as the border is known. This is interesting for cruise tourists to see the only divided city in the world. Many cruise ships now coming back into Cyprus after some lean years without them in the past.
