Why did you go on your first cruise

Hi last year my huband and I left our Tenagers at home and escaped on our first cruise with OV. We got the cruise bug and we are going on 2 this year. Why did you go on your first cruise and were you hooked first time?:o

My wife's 50th birthday. We went on an Airtours cruise to the Canaries. Thought it was wonderful. Booked another with Celebrity - thought that was even more wonderful. All that was 12 years ago and we've been cruising ever since. Never had a 'shore based' holiday since - apart from weekends in the UK.

    cheers
    Harvey

It was something i had wanted to do since quite young but OH was never keen but he surprised me for a Big birthday and he now has the bug more than me. We have had 1 cruise this year and have 2 more booked, plus 1 mini cruise, plus 1 boating holiday with the family. I just love the water and being able to visit so many places in 1 or 2 weeks.:D WE WANT A BADGE :D

My mother got me hooked on cruising back in 1963. I did not know were to go on holiday and mum thought a cruise might be good even though my mother never left the UK. The ship was the Northern Star. The weather was rough going through the bay, and in those days you did boat drill out on deck the first day at sea. We got drenched to say the least. Loved every minute of the cruise though, and am still cruising. This cruise visited islands such as tenerife and madera etc. Now waiting for the big one in 2012 THE WORLD CRUISE. Will have to do small ones till then as I will have to pay the deposit this summer.

I travelled to and from Australia on liners in the 60s and have loved being on ships ever since. My partner was reluctant to try cruising because she gets sea-sick crossing the channel, but a few years ago I persuaded her to try a mini-cruise. She loved it and the rest, as they say, is history. Like Harvey, we've not done another kind of holiday since (except for a week on the Norfolk Broads - but that's not too different!) .

1st cruise was with school on the educational ship Uganda.............there's a room and model of her on Aurora. LOVED every moment and when onboard vowed one day I'd cruise again and again. Took many years to reach that dream but now manage to do 2 and sometimes 3 cruises a year!

I had a period of about 10 years without foreign holidays when I had a small-holding at home. When I only had horses left I put them into a livery yard and decided to get back to travelling and to catch up on the lost years thought I'd kick start it with a cruise to visit loads of different countries in one week. That 'once in a lifetime' cruise has turned into a passion. We have had city breaks on land but nearly all of our holidays are on cruises now.

    Cruising my way through life!

Spent most of my life at sea and other than mini cruises on the pride of bilbao and a few sumers on the broads said i would never go back to sea.
After major ops for the wife and myself ,thought we needed a treat,so booked a 2week on the Arcadia and have never looked back sinse.

Used to be a small boat man..... Norfolk Broads etc and spent last 12 years taking a cruising holiday in Friesland (Holland).
However the "crew" are finding the work a bit difficult due to age and health problems
So decided to take a cruise instead and have loved it since!
Have done 3 and 2 more booked for this year.
As a side note the cruise has worked out cheaper than the Broads or Friesland once you factor in the fuel, berthing fees, shopping and getting to the boatyard.
