    Lift user guide

Judging from my recent cruise, it seems that there are many people who do not know how to use the lifts.
Rule 1: Press the button indicating the direction that you want the lift to travel, NOT the direction you want the lift to move from its present position. Don't press both the up and down buttons.
Rule 2: If a button is already illuminated there is nothing to be gained by pressing it again.
Rule 3: When the lift arrives let the lift users get out before entering.
Rule 4: When in the lift you will not be able to select an up button if the lift is going down etc.

Topical point this. It is quite entertaining to watch people use lifts. My favourite are those that get in the lift regardless of its intended direction. Many do this deliberately so they don't have to wait. Then when the lift returns to the same floor and its already full of the same people who have travelled all the way down (or up) and there is still no room for you with your child buggy. They then preceed to smile at you as if they have got one up on you. The age group of these people is often of the more mature age group. I just feel a little sad for them.

Thank you Vinny. I always let wheelchairs and buggies in first and will wait for the lift to come back. Please do not tar us all with the same brush.

Another hazard in those glass lifts on modern ships, is the youths that seem to spend all day going up and down. No room for buggies, senior citizens or anyone else!

we try to walk up/down the stairs as much as poss unless we are travelling from top deck to low deck or vice versa. it helps with the weight gain. :D as we are usually on a low deck it's great when comming back on ship when you see the crowds waiting for the lift and we can just walk up one or two flights. so sometimes it's good being a plebe. :D

don't want to work, just want to cruise.
