When sailing on Fred Olsen's Boudicca, I found that you had to use the gels before entering any of the resaturants and when coming back on board ship from ports of call. The entire ship was spotlessly clean and the crew were forever cleaning and polishing - and yet it still gets more than its fair share of norovirus
As others have said, passengers' hygeine must have something to do with it. Also as, many cruisers are older, it's possible that their immune systems are more vulnerable. That's not meant to be an ageist comment; I'm 57 but my husband is probably the fittest 70 year old I know.

Hello Angela.
I agree with your comments about old people not washing themselves after using the toilets.
In many cases it is old people who do not wash themselves. I have witnessed many old women, pulling at themselves readjusting their underware in the buffet line !!!
really.
And then they pick up cheese sandwiches with their hands.
