Well as long as no-one thinks its me, the orginal Libralass - I am glad this a troll and has been banned. I have been on 5 cruise sights daily for 5 years and have never been banned ever from any of them . The troll was calling herself Libralass MOON to anyone still confused and I repeat was nothing to do with me. a very nasty piece of work. She ? was banned from cruise critic as well over a week ago, called Lynne Knicker on there.... sad person.
Don't worry Libralass I think most people will have worked out that Libramoon/LynnKnickers or any of the other daft names has no connection with you or your username. As has been said, just a sad silly person albeit a pest.
I work for an NHS organisation and we are acutely aware of the problems of spreading bacterial and viral infections. (I might add, I am not speaking officially on behalf of the NHS)
Hand hygiene is a significant problem across all generations but mostly in the old and the very young and in males across the whole age spectrum. Every male who might become indignant, just think to each time you enter a urinal section and wonder how many men wash hands after peeing- it's a sad thruth that its not the majority. The groin is a moist, warm area and is the perfect area for all these 'nasties' to breed and wait for transferrance, generally by hand.
In order to protect ourselves from contracting infections in heavily populated areas, we have to rely on OTHER PEOPLE washing their hands properly after ablutions and before handling food etc. It doesn't matter how many times you wash your own hands if someone else is passing the infection on via the lettuce leaf you eat, or the bread roll, or the cutlery, or the door handle, or the tv remote, or the telephone.......
The thing to be aware of is that to anybody else we meet, WE are the OTHER PEOPLE, so we need to wash our hands thoroughly to protect others. It's a communal problem with a communal solution.
Placing hand gels in entrances to public areas can have a significantly negative affect on hygiene, mostly because people can gain a false sense of having 'cleansed' or 'protected' themselves when, as stated elsewhere, norovirus is not controlled by hand gel use. As a result they do not do what they should. There is no substitute for thorough handwashing with soap or other decent hand detergent, followed by drying with towel or air. Interestingly, hand gel works better on recently washed hands.
So regular, strong reminders to wash hands regularly is the best way forward and when I go on my first cruise in 5 week's time, I will find out how good P&O are at this whilst, at the same time, placing my health in the hygiene of the other 4000 passengers and crew.

It sure is spooky when one attracts these sort of people lol

we were on fred olsens boudicca for a 3week cruise in spring 2010,the toilets were always kept clean paper towels left to open doors, but i still managed to pick virus up twice after first week, then again on third week,as were so many other passengers, but worse the previous 3 cruises had suffered,as 2 others after ours it upset me as i missed so many days of my holiday, waiting to get tea or coffee was a nightmare as you could not even pick a sugar satchet up,the buffet closed after a few days, you had to ask a waiter to pass you everything it became a nightmare
