I was a smoker when I first started nursing in the 1960's The tutor used to say a cigarette after meals helped the digestion. How the world have changed. I eventually gave up smoking in 1984 when cigs went over £2.00 a packet (yes they were that cheap and even cheaper than that before). I have at times thought about smoking again but when I did anatomy and physiology course for an holistic therapy diploma two years ago they did a rundown on the hundreds of chemicals in a cigarette. This really made me stay off smoking for life. If people were to see what they are inhaling they may think differently about it. Some times I may move if there are people smoking as I have had bad chest infections in the past and smoke now can make me feel I cannot catch my breath. They have a right to smoke as well as my right to have clean air so never a happy medium on both sides.
