    Question Need Less Sleep

    Experts have recommended

That people over the age 60 should go to bed later as it has been found in a study that they need an hours less sleep a night than younger people.

It might be a good idea , say the findings by researchers of the University of Surrey to advise people over the age of 60 to restrict their sleep and go to bed an hour later in order to encourage a good night's rest.

It was also found that older people were more likely to wake up in the night than younger people. On the other hand, older people are less sleepy in the day especially as compared to those in their 20's.

How early do you go to bed?. Do you wake during the night?. Do you cat-nap during the day and spoil your nights sleep?. What are your feelings on later to bed?.

As you may have noticed by some of the timimgs of my posts I'm an early bird! Normally up and at the computer catching up with the overnight emails from the USA by about 6-6:30am. That normally means by 10:30pm I'm zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Although I'm well under 60 I do not sleep very much. I don't really have the time to fit it into my life. Monday to Friday my alarm goes at 5.15am. I leave for work at about 6.00am. However I'm almost incapable of going to bed early. I'm never in bed before midnight and 1.00am is not unusual. Of a weekend I tend to go to bed later 1.30-2.00am and get up at maybe 9.00am.

I'm yawning now just thinking about it!;)

So that explains those odd posts of yours, and the bee-keeper outfit for an avatar. :D

You're still cool, never mind me!

I'm the complete opposite to you: I'm crashed by ten,at the latest
and wake around 6:30-6:45 if the wife will let me sleep that late
-plus a nap after lunch. The tropical heat just wears you down!

But if need be, I will get up early to get pics like these...of special ships!

Don't mind rising early, if there's a real reason.

I am an early riser also. I do wake up several times during the night. I am normally in bed by 10-30, 11 at the latest. But, at the moment even though I am awake I cannot force myself out of bed until it gets light. (Thats why I wanted to be a Bear) I have only 14 more sleeps before I have to stay awake to keep up with all who are going on Magnifica.I'm in training from tonight! Carol.

I'm another late to bed, early to rise person.

Nowadays I rarely go to bed before 2 a.m. (sometimes 3 a.m.) and am usually up between 6 and 7 a.m. I quite often get up once in the night - sometimes to go to the loo :D

Most nights during the week I am out playing bridge until gone 11 p.m.

This has changed since I was younger. Between the ages of 45 and 60 I used to go to bed around 1 a.m. Before that it was around midnight.

My parents used to say that as a kid I was a nuisance because I didn't sleep much. Actually, their wording wasn't quite that pleasant.

When I'm on cruises and the weather is warm I have usually walked 2- 6 miles before sunrise as I don't like walking in the heat.

Age does not bring wisdom. Often it merely changes simple stupidity into arrogant conceit. ;)

That will suit us Grant. Wake at six. Coffee, a walk round the deck, then a great big brekkie! Heaven! Just hope there is a kettle in the cabin. Carol :D

I once read that Nature's general plan is..
to carve up our 24-hour day into 3 sections of eight hours each.

    Eight hours for productive work
    Eight hours for play,rest,relaxation
Eight hours for sleep to rejuvenate cells.

I definitely like and need my eight hrs. of sleep.

I simply listen to my body, that's all.
    When I'm thirsty, I drink.
When I'm hungry I eat (in moderation these less-active days).

    Not difficult stuff. Very animal.
    ;)
