The gap between the head of the pullman berth and the wall on Ventura (and Azura I assume) was much bigger than on OV2, in the superior deluxe cabins at least. When we were on Ventura there was a sofa bed and a pullman berth above this. Our son is 4 and he is a wriggler and there was no way we would let him sleep on the top berth (on OV2 I would have been fine with him doing it at this age with a bed guard). He also refused to sleep on the sofa bed and ended up sleeping on the cushions of the sofa bed on the floor next to us.

My understanding (and I may be wrong) from pictues I have seen is that the pullman berth has the same issue in all cabin grades, although maybe not as pronounced as in the superior deluxe. Given the beds have to be set up as twins anyway we are just sticking him between us on a ready bed when we go in normal outside cabin in August. Not sure where the baby and the cot are going yet!!

actually just found picture of balcony cabin with upper berth. The gap isn't too bad - nowhere near as big as in the superiodrdeluxe

Why do they have these huge gaps, if they aren't going to have rails all the way round?! Apart from the danger of a child falling, it's pretty obvious the pillow is going to fall down at some point.
    Thankyou both.

It's because the beds recess into the ceilings and the windows etc are recessed out from the cabin :o

Maybe a suggestion have a pull up bed guard fitted into the edges of the bunks might help ~ If that's something no one has ever thought of before. Maybe on a spring catch?

Perhaps one of the so called family friendly ines could look into the possibilites?

We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.
