Just what I was on about - still plenty of room re safety. And as you say it does sometimes get a bit windy on deck but usually it varies from one side to the other and it is lovely ,especially in the warmer climates, to sit and watch the "waves" go by.
The one time that sticks out in my mind is one evening as we sailed passed St.Lucia with a really good silhouette of The Pitons against a lovely evening sky. We wondered what the brilliant light was that was resting perfectly in the bottom of the "V" shaped between the 2 mts.
Then as we watched we eventually realised that it was the moon rising -what a sight - it was enormous and at first filled about 1/3 of the gap. As it rose it became more round an smaller - ending up just like a glowing ball floating above a "v" shaped cup - brilliant!.
And - non of us had a camera with us!!!!!
i dont know why the prom deck always seems so deserted at night, just pop up to deck 10 or above after a visit to the crows nest there are always a few couples meandering ,nice to see especially when they are in the formal togs.

It might be a Costa thing, we noticed the same thing on the Serena recently.
The "Promenade Deck to Nowhere"
As for the access to life boats, the muster station was on the deck above in an area which was only accessed by crew apart from when the muster was going on. Access to the life boats appeared to be on that deck and not the prom deck.
Can't imagine why they would ask you to gather on the deck above (on a similar looking deck to a prom deck) where the life boats are, lower the life boats to next deck down and ask everyone to walk down a deck.....
I think it is a design feature of Costa.
Totally agree though, it does seem a waste of space. Nobody ever seemed to use it apart from the smokers.
Just remembered that the prom deck was only accessible from the atrium as well. You could get on it and walk all the way to other end and then have to walk back to get off.

No mischievious intent at all Harvey, checked my camera timing and took this at 07.23 definate no rain and not freezing either, must be either sea spray overnight, or the cleaners who were out with their little brushes on sticks.
Timing on my second one was 20.37 just after first sitting got out - smoking deck was other side of ship. Original poster said there were no seating available on prom deck on his ship, these pictures were to indicate there were plenty on our one. In fact I have not been on a ship without seating on the prom deck.![]()

always found one side of the prom deck well populated either by walkers ,or as in the view of the arcadia folk just lounging enjoying the sun,as far as i can remember on the arcadia the prom deck is a continuous walk round.
