If you need cash you can usually get this at the ship bank or in the casino and charge it to your room account which you can settle with a credit card or debit card at the end of your cruise, but you would need to be sure you had enough in your account to use the debit card option.

on our last trip to SA in 2003 we was getting 18 rand to the pound oh happy days,we could afford to do every thing that we couldnt when we lived there,ope this makes sense

Australia is booming our dollar is very strong it makes cruising out of the UK a bonus.
deposit accounts are 6% i am not crowing about this because in past years the pound and the euro have been high against the Aussie dollar so now its our turn.

then (by Order of The Universe) it must swing an almost equal amount the other way.

Great shame really.
Would be nice if it would stay one way all the time.
