For me I love my time or freedom dining, it also means I can plan my night much better, as I like going to see the shows or any other entertainment after dinner, not before, the entertainment to me is just as important as the dinner. I don't like long drawn out meals, happy to join in the conversation during the meal, but once I have finished, I am up and out to the show or what other entertainment is available, or the bar.

I think that may be the difference.
We are happy to eat at 8.45 and still be in the restaurant until 10.30-11pm as we never really go to the shows. After dinner we just go for a stroll or sit outside with a glass of wine in a quiet area.
Maybe I feel too rushed in the anytime restaurants and less relaxed.

We tried "my time" dining on Celebrity Eclipse last year and loved it, granted we were with friends so it worked very well, I'm not sure if I would do it if we were on our own but never say never !!
With regard to service, I did wonder if it wouldn't be as good as the gratuities were pre-paid but we had excellent service and nothing was too much trouble, we had different waiters most nights and I couldn't have faulted any of them, to be honest I think other cruise lines could learn a lot from Celebrity, I have never in 20 +years cruising come across such lovely crew.

My experience of anytime dining on Celebrity and RCI is that both make an effort to seat you at a table with the same waiters each night and the service has always been very good.
I just love the flexibility of anytime dining, being able to eat when you want and at a table size you choose. Some nights when we aren't bothered with the show we will eat late on a large table and happily pass the evening with our table companions - we have never once felt rushed. Other nights we may eat early and request a table for two so we can have a shorter meal of 2-3 courses without sitting around for others to finish a larger meal so we can move on and enjoy the facilities around the ship.
Anytime dining suits us as we are early birds and consequently ready for bed shortly after 10pm so it enables us to eat and see the show or play the casino before bed beckons.
Cruising my way through life!

We had excellent service from all staff at the mytime dining room. The two ladies who managed the reservations and seating were super and gave a first class service every time. The waiter who took us to our table was polite and friendly, and the waiters we had at each occasion were also friendly, courtous and attentive.
We brought with us an A3 size whiteboard with coloured pens and attached it to the (metal) wall of the cabin with magnets. After receiving our daily planner we would sit down and plan what we were doing for the day and when we would book our table for dinner, and write it down on the whiteboard.
It was great for writing messages to each other too.
Having said all that, I think we will forgo the convenience of dining when we want, in order to have table mates and get to know our waiters.
We have not yet tried 'mytime' dining and we nornally travel by ourselves instead of a group so my only experience has been dining at lunch or breakfast and normally we do not find folks that inclusive and the waiters seem to be in a rush.
Overall though we have found service as Wilba and Dancing Queen described to be very good by all staff especailly during the day when they do not really know you or if you autotip or will tip. They have been trained well which is as much as we can expect.
I guess if we got the same waiters in mytime as we do in fixed time and similar personable table mates then we woul dbe fine either way except for the preceived benefit of dining when you want.

I loved the "my time dining " on the Independence. We were seated in the same area every night and had the same excellent staff each night. Even at home quite often i don't feel hungry till after 8, so this suits me fine. Only thing was we were always seated at a table of 2 and i would have liked a few times a larger table with other people to chat with. Gets a bit boring when you are together all day and conversation has run out at the end of the day.
We were very lucky on the I O T S last year. As we were a party of 19 and there wasn't 2 tables for 10 close together, we were given a seperate dining room just off Main D.R. As we were the only ones using that room we could go in anytime after 6.30pm and stay as long as we liked, though we were booked for 1st sitting, we had the same two waiters throughout who were excellent.

Well at least this page seems full of satisfied "My Time Diners" We won't chose anything else now. The meals were always better, the service better and the atmosphere better. I could chose my time to suit my evening and loved it. We have done it several times now and on or cruise to Brazil we tended to eat at the same time and on the same table which started as a table of four of us and ended with eight an people joining us at the end of their meal for coffee. Tremendous dining.
We have two more booked, both "My Time" and really looking forward to dinners. ......Neil
