It was offered in the trip brochure when we sailed 2 years ago, but people who had done it felt ripped off as it was only in a pool on a complex with a 30 minute sea dive charged as an extra.

Scuba Diving on Red Sea Magic
You can do proper scuba diving in the Red Sea ( not a swimming pool ) by special excursion from the ship at about £70 ( price from memory and may vary ) and this is available at Aqaba and Safaga ports only - you need to see Destination Services on the ship and the sooner you request the better choices they will have - Certified Divers will need to take proof and you and a buddy can do your own exploring - if on your own you have to follow the guide. All equipment and transfers are included in the price. The trip is called " Red Sea PADI diving " and is by special arrangement when you are on board.

No, we're in Sharm in the last week of Jan. He's not too happy with diving now, as the Dr. thinks snorkelling is better for him....he learnt part of his diving in Sharm many years ago..( I remember it well.......I was left at home to climb a snow covered hill to the bus at 7am every day!).
Age, and little ailments have brought their toll, but he's still a water baby at heart.- Jo.

Just in case this puts anyone off, I did the Introduction to Diving session in Aqaba from the Red Sea Magic cruise in 2007. You are taken to a centre a short drive from the ship where you are given a talk on what will happen then fitted with the equipment and taken to a deep swimming pool obviously designed for this purpose. You then get tuition in the pool on what to do if you lose your regulator, how to clear your mask, etc. After that you walk down the beach (a few hundred yards) to the sea where there is a reef and you are escorted on a dive with one supervisor between two novices.
There was no extra charge for the dive. We went down to 9 metres and it was amazing. Whilst I found the idea of diving pretty scary, we were very well looked after.
This excursions was incredibly good value for money..

Have you read today's questions? It's about Aqaba, and someone from Israel has answered that you can visit Eilat from there, if you ask the immigration to stamp a card rather than your passport which will have an Egyptian visa on. You change taxis at the border.
I never knew it was possible.
Jo.
