    Table for 2

I'm sure this topic has been covered many times before but does anyone know how to get a table for two in the main dining room of cruise ships?
I booked a cuise with Royal Caribbean 12 months in advance requesting a table for 2 and ended up on a table for 14. After speaking to the head waiter on day 1 of the cruise he informed us that the travel agent hadn't requested it. We checked our booking form and it showed we had. This still wasn't good enough for them. As a result we ended up eating every night in cattle class buffet dining where the food was well below average. On everyone of our 4 cruises we have requested a table for 2 but never yet had one. What is the secret?

I dont know the definitive answer but at a guess I would say the tables for two are preferentially given to those who have booked some of the higher priced suites and diamond/diamond plus C&A Members. One thing I always do as soon as we board the ship, is to check out where our dining table is. Your dining table number will be on your seapass card. The Maitre D is then always on duty from around 1 or 2pm on boarding day - be the first in the queue if you want to sort it out!.
Another suggestion is perhaps you could switch to the 'Anytime or MyTime' dining option for which I do understand they have set aside a few tables for 2. But why not also enjoy the company of others, try it you might make some great friends and cruising companions. If you dont like your table companions you can always ask the Maitre D to switch you to another table.

What is so terrible about eating with others, that you feel compelled to eat in the Windjammer?

    Just Married!

    Tell them you're honeymooning
and act all lovey-dovey while making the request

-that usually works, but you gotta act all lovey-dovey
not like you've been married for thirty-five years, OK?
    :D

Hi, we always ask for a Table for 2, as my husband is hard of hearing and does not want the strain of trying to hold numerous conversations! Very difficult for him in a noisy Dining Room!Fortunately, our request has been granted on 3 out of 4 occasions. The one time it didn't work, was a nightmare! With Royal Caribbean, who you mentioned, I booked direct & by phone & emphasised the table for 2. The cruise rep was brilliant and sent an email to the Maitre D near to sailing time, who confirmed the table. I can only suggest you stress to your TA just how important it is for you to have such a table. Regards, Lizzie.

The reason we prefer not to sit with others is two fold. I don't get to eat with my husband for the rest of the year due to work committments, so for 2 weeks it would be nice to sit together. The other reason is when you pay around £2000 for a 2 week holiday you should be able to sit with whoever you choose.

We got a table for 2 every night, on 2 occasions we had to wait for about 15 minutes (we were given a pager and sat in the wine bar). There is nothing wrong about wanting a table for 2.

Here here! I always ask for a table for 2. We have children so we seldom get to sit down and eat a meal on our own and just 'talk'. The maitree d has always been very accommodating I'm glad to say. (By the way we do take our children on our cruise - we also take grandma & grandad too so we can take it in turns to babysit whilst the adults get a bit of time to themselves).

Me and my family have cruised every year and there are 3 of us. We dont really like sitting beside anyone in the dining area. If you want to get a 2 table when booking your cruise, phone fred olsen and tell them that you request a table for 2 in the evening. it is a priority! You will be guaranteed a table

    thanks

We booked the August Bank holiday cruise on IOTS at the end of July, and requested and recieved a table for 2, and it was our first cruise with Royal Caribbean. We also had booked a guarantee balcony cabin, and got the best grade!

    Luck of the draw?

We had no trouble getting a table for 2 on RCI's Legend O.S. with Mytime dining in June
