    G. and I have lost over 6 stone between us in the past 15 months, and try to eat healthily on our cruises.
BUT....when it's all laid out for you.....maple syrup next to the porridge; fried bread!!!- when did I last see that?...M.P.White's chocolate pud with brandy snaps.... hot things fried in batter.....scones and clotted cream....
I've just lost the 3lbs gained on Ventura in Oct, now it's Christmas soon, followed by Thomson's......
Please tell me that Thomson only serves salad and fruit....
    Jo.

I suggested to DW about losing before we go in December. But she she said we've got Christmas as soon as we get back so what's the point.
So wait for the pounds to go on :D

    Berwyn
I always try and lose about 7lbs. Then put something similar back on. We often cruise in September , got to diet ready for Christmas. Back on it goes! I'm throwing in the towel! Hubby says he loves me the way I am, curves and all? Just have to buy a size larger in clothes next year. I need a new wardrobe anyway! Thats my excuse and I am sticking to it:D

Cool And there's the problem - LIDO Feast Deck!

Magical solution: avoid the Lido buffet spread
    - that self-service situation will only add to your own very-personal 'spread'

Whenever possible, we eat in the Dining Rooms where one orders from a menu

and where a fixed and quite-adequate portion of food is delivered to your table, sight unseen
--all three courses of it-- and we find this works well to minimise 'spread'

Not only to we avoid the annoying lines in the Lido area
    but we don't over-eat just because it's a See-Food Diet situation.

    Hi Jo,

What diet are you following - we need to know! Recent 12 days on Queen Victoria has, taken it's toll, despite being fairly good! Dinner out tonight, for our wedding anniversary has not helped, if I am not careful, I will be put in the oven, mistaken for the stuffed turkey!! Regards, Lizzie

Cheers, Spartan! Jack Spratt and his wife live!
Oh, since we retired.......it crept up on us, though we were pretty doughy before.
But you know how these days, you don't visit the Doc's- they send for you to tell you off, and find something wrong? So, G. was diagnosed with diabetes 2....very mild, just .1 over, and we changed our whole eating habits, esp. sugar- don't eat anything with sugar in it, including processed foods, cereals etc. This then gave us the push for a generally healthy diet....more fruit and veg etc.
We were out for a Rotary dinner the other night ( as the entertainment, actually, and met someone who reads us on this forum.....!HI!). When the sticky puds came round, we just look at them like a recovered alcoholic, and our brains click in, "Not for me."
Gets easier each week, but as Aplmac says, a buffet is difficult!
Happy slimming after Christmas, everyone!- Jo.

I was very lucky when I did a physical job I could eat everything in sight, breakfast at the greasy spoon every day. Then as I had more and more work I employed other people to do it, then I carried on eating eventually I had a wardrobe full of dinner suites than had shrunk due to exposure to sea air.
My wife bought me a George Forman Grill (I do the cooking it relaxes me ) a few years back.
I cooked my sausages and burgers on it the amount of fat that came out was a shock this put me off fatty foods so without dieting I have lost nearly three stone the George Forman sits in the cupboard waiting for a job

What's that in real money..sorry,real weight?

Have the British realized that the rest of the world has since moved on a bit
    to lbs avoirdupois...even to Kilograms?

    I guess not..
