The decor of the Gills on board the QM2 are rather bland in my opinion, although I though those on Queen Vic were nicer. However dining so high up the ship (QV) makes it very uncomfortable in rough seas if you do not have geat sea legs.
Hi Grant, we are sailing on Queen Elizabeth in November, Aegean Introduction for 18 nights. First time on Cunard and really looking forward to trying Cunard for ourselves. We are not in Grill Class, just a balcony for us and we have always resisted Cunard because we disliked the idea of the class system aboard. I think we have decided that if we want to try the ships then we have to accept we do not want to spend the premium required for the Grills and just get on with it! It is interesting to see the clips they are releasing and watch the progress of the build. There seems to be mixed reviews for Cunard so roll on November when I can make up my own mind..Carol

We are booked on the new Queen Elizabeth on her maiden world cruise. We were on Queen Victoria maiden world cruise also. Never travelled grill, however I have never felt the need to do so. Britannia restaurant is very good in my opinion and I been in the grill restaurant on QM2 and QV Must say the décor on QV is better than QM2 as Malcolm Oliver points out. I have cruised on many different lines but must admit I am a real Cunarder fan. There is no class system on any ships these days. That stopped after Titanic sank, as that was the last time any ship sailed where passengers were not entitled to cross from steerage to first class. Or pass through first class into steerage. Nowadays you get different levels of accommodation. You get what you pay for!
You can still mingle on Cunard with grill passengers all the time. They are everywhere on the ship the rest of us are apart from meal times. Plus they do have tiny private deck to sit on but even then you can enter into it if you wish. Not that any one does ( well maybe they do) but there is no one to arrest you if you did! So don't worry that there will be upper class and lower class. It's just that some have paid more for different accommodation. It is all down to how much one is prepared to pay to be there. I can tell you there are far better dressed people on formal night in the Britannia restaurant then there are in the grill. Keep watching Alister Greener on Cunard Blog: We Are Cunard: Alastair Greener for the latest updates on QE.
I Like that Carole! At least you will have some peace and quiet and no fighting over towels on your private balcony!
My husband loves to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine while I get ready for dinner. It is nice to have that bit of extra space as well.
He is sitting on our balcony right now but not on a ship. We are at home in Cyprus and today we have a beautiful warm sunny day for Mothering Sunday. So hope all mothers are getting a rest on their special day.
Happy cruising! Maggie.
