The dreaded smoking topic - how's this for lunacy ...??

No doubt this will get me into trouble ( Please don't beat me up, Neil !! ) but here goes anyway ....

Since giving up the evil weed nearly a year ago, I've been using an ecig - no dirty tar, no smell, no pollution - oh, and an eighth of the cost

However, a lady on our recent cruise insisted on telling me that these things are even worse for bystanders than actual cigarettes; apparently, for those nearby, the awful worry and mental stress of believing themselves to be in the presence of smoke is worse than the effects of actually being in it - seems the sheer panic of it all causes heart attacks, ulcers and a positive galaxy of other ailments

I probably shouldn't even mention such ideas, but for my fellow vapers on this site - and all rational people - I thought I'd share the chuckle over it; when all common sense departs, you might as well laugh

    Cheers,
    Lynn

I gave up 14 years ago a but it never ceases to amaze me how people can still afford to smoke let alone ignore the health warnings ?

Can anyone tell me if smoking is allowed in the bars of Adventure of the seas. Just back from fantastic trip on Independance where bars were non smoking I am horrified to discover forum comment on Western Med cruise in may. saying that smoking is allowed in the bars on Aventure? Is this true?

That's what I thought at the time, Annie ... I nearly said as much, but there didn't seem much point, somehow

    Cheers,

I am not going to even whack you with a feather (Gives me a strange pleasure sometimes!... ..)

There are people in this world who see ill in all things and the ecigarette surprisingly comes in for criticism from several quarters.

Some airlines and some cruiselines ban them because they give real smokers the idea that they too can smoke and arguments could break out.

Some people have no idea that they are not real cigarettes, lets face it they do look similar , and get up tight about them.

So maybe they should be coloured like a barber's pole or be a different shape, like a pig's tail or coloured a sickly green or something until they are recognised for what they are. And what they are is a brilliant way to help smokers without, apparently, causing others any damage or danger.

So this supercilious lady should be quietly put right by someone in authority just so she stops with this autocratic nonsense. ....Neil

I was on an airline recently who were selling ecigs onboard or at least something similar. I can't remember which airline it was but I remember thinking how enlightened it was at the time - also a great sales opportunity!

    Cruising my way through life!

E Cigarette's are treated by cruise line as real to avoid confusion with other passengers O.K. I accept that! it makes sense to me but why!! are they are also banned for use inside your own cabin when you are the only person in it!!!

And who would know, and enforce the ban?

Could it be because there's a certain type of personality which gets spurious satisfaction out of banning things? Quite sad, really .....
