Wow Grant where do you find these, silly question I know where you find them.
Anyway I think a great many of these could be related to the journey through life as well - from birth to death.
I Liked this one.
32. “A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.” – Tim Cahill
And this one too.
49. “A wise traveler never despises his own country.” – Carlo Goldoni

Very nice Grant, but NOT very nautical. I like this one:
The RMS Queen Mary carried the beautiful, the rich, and the famous to and fro across the ocean, sent off with brass bands and streamers. Most were suitably impressed; Beatrice Lillie, boarding her for the first time, was staggered by the Mary’s size. She asked, “when does this place get to New York?”?

A few nautical ones for those of us that love the sea or rivers or just plain 'being on the water'!!
"Ships are the nearest thing to dreams that hands have ever made."
-Robert N. Rose
"There is nothing- absolutely nothing-
half so much worth doing
as simply messing about in boats."
-Ratty said to Mole in Kenneth Grahame's beloved 1908
classic, The Wind in the Willows.
"Land was created to provide a place for boats to visit."
-Brooks Atkinson
"Ships that pass in the night and speak to each other in passing;
Only a signal shown and a distant voice in the darkness;
So on the ocean of life we pass and speak to one another,
Only a look and a voice; then darkness again and a silence."
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
So many more.......

I liked it too and Mark Twain's about prejudice , bigotry and narrow-mindedness.
Although it seems some travellers are untouched ...remember that priceless comment about Dubrovnik being ' stuck in a time warp' and ' Venice was smelly , crowded and covered in graffiti' ?

More nautical ones:-
Samuel Johnson also said "Being in a ship is being in a jail, with the chance of being drowned."
Any suggestions as to which ship he had in mind?
Chester W Nimitz:- "A ship is always referred to as she because it costs so much to keep one in paint and powder."
Robert Cooper "There is no dilemma compared with that of the deep-sea diver who hears the message from the ship above--Come up at once. We are sinking."

“Two roads diverged in a wood and I – I took the one less traveled by.” is from my favourite poem of all time. I gave up my well paid job and successful career to take the 'road less travelled' and move out here to Greece, so the poem means an awful lot to me.

Hi Grant
My favourites are 3 & 4. Would you mind awfully if I used some for a Leisure Studies group? They think travel is for getting sunstroke and blind drunk.
