    The Iron Lady

Having completed a successful personal business mission in London yesterday morning, followed by a excellent lunch in Chinatown - the Chinese were still celebrating their New Year , I killed a few hours prior to the evening activities by going to see a movie in Leicester Square.

Purely as a matter of timing the best option was 'The Iron Lady'.

What a superb film. Meryl Streep's performance is certainly worth an Oscar and, politics aside, I thought the film portrayed Margaret Thatcher very well. One minor criticism would be that it did dwell a little too long on her failing memory - something I guess catches up with many of us humans.

I would think it will be quite a while before this particular film makes it to cruise ship screens so I would recommend it to everyone 'at a cinema near you'.

Amusingly, during the run of future film trailers, was one for the new 3D version of Titanic. To the best of my knowledge only the QM2 has a 3D Cinema on board, so I guess we will be spared that one at sea for some time to come.

China Town has some great restaurants. Personally I love the banter you hear in the Wong Kei in Wardour Street. The selection of restaurants in Gerrard Street is amazing.

I agree with everything above But I don't think they should have made such a film now......

Hi Richard I read the reviews, where they remarked that enough credit was given to her degrees she achieved. in the early days before she entered parliment, it also said it dwelled to much on her later years.CG

Orange Wednesdays (2 for 1 =£5:40 for TWO wrinklies) and free senior bus passes enable me and 'er indoors to go to the flicks most Wednesdays. Throw in a Boots (the chemist) £3:29p 3 course meal deal (we don't do popcorn and coke!) and we 'ave 'ad a good day out on the cheap. We have had a particularly good couple of weeks with WARHORSE last week and THE IRON LADY today. Both excellent in their own way. I left the cinema today still convinced that Poll Tax was a great idea that would have changed the mentality of the Nation. I also wish that Maggie had been PM when the recent financial abuses by MPs were exposed - she would have them horse whipped!

Thanks to those who posted suggestions for Chinatown restaurants. I have noted them as we are in London soon, and, as it's a while since we have eaten there, it's good to have up to date recommendations. It's a strange coincidence that earlier this evening I had been Googling..........Chinatown London, restaurants.

My favourite is Y Ming in Greek St. Put yourself in Christine's hands and let her choose for you.
