For me it's watching the sun rise while listening to the birds singing. Andrea Bocelli , Elgar, The Phantom of the Opera, pavlova with wonderful fruits, especially mangoes, swimming and looking after my son's two enormous German Shepherds , one of whom nipped me on the behind as I walked passed him this morning !
He is still a puppy and full of fun . Oh and playing bridge.

Playing bridge, gardening, bridge, cooking, bridge, raising money for charity, bridge, walking in the Lake District, bridge ...

    Now I realise why I don't sleep ;)

Did I mention playing bridge :D

You haven't lived until you've had a tree-ripened Julie Mango from Edwin's trees!
    (Edwin is my step-son-in-law..)

What you get for Mangoes in the UK are fruit picked green
and then force-ripened during shipping, en route to you.
A far cry from what we get here in the tropix.

Much like the strawberries we get here: nice enough
but surely nothing like picking them straight off a Hampshire vine, I suspect.

    .............................

    Now to swimming:

You haven't lived until you've done a Sunday morning dip with us..

..at Rockley Beach, on the South Coast of Barbados.

I know exactly what you mean. Bridge night means a very late sleep. Can't even think of going to bed for hours after playing bridge. Trouble is, can't give up evening bridge.

Same here, after playing bridge my mind is buzzing . Was that 3 club bid a Bergen raise ? Why did my partner miss that transfer ? Should have led a diamond instead of a spade we could have set them !

Hmmmm Bowen mangoes are juicy and sooo sweet but probably not as delicious as Edwin 's home grown ones.

Those beaches look inviting , turquoise water, clean soft sand. Is there a problem with sharks ?

I have a feeling I may have to concede ....you live in paradise.

But wait , is there a bridge club?

Never heard of Bowen mangoes, but you live and learn.

Problems with sharks? No. Certainly not in shallow waters -
deep sea fishermen have to go waaay out there for sharks
and even so sharks are rare: they catch more Billfish, Kingfish, Mahi-mahi(Dorado)etc.
A Marine Bio Prof. once told me that our waters are too clean for sharks.
Sharks like muckier stuff, on a continental shelf biotope.
Barbados is a dot in the ocean, with what is described as a shelf-slope margin.

Do I live in Paradise? I guess so.
Beats Blackpool(sorry Blackpool, we still love you..)
-but it does have its warts, like anywhere else.
Too many ppl on a small island, and thus too much traffic.
You wouldn't think it, given the pics I show you.

    Now to the important stuff..

Do we have a Bridge Club?
Most certainly -its grand name is the Barbados Bridge League, Inc. (if you please!!)
and the phone number is +(246) 427-4839.

Furthermore, it's located no more than a quarter-mile from my house!
Now, THAT is Paradise, you must agree!
    :D

    The first two shots
show the dessert table in the Lido Restaurant, Carnival Victory.

The last shot shows the dessert spread on Ocean Village Two
    -in their Plantation Restaurant,I think.

Thanks for the update! I especially like the look of the baked cheesecakes.

I don't really play much bridge in the evenings. Not more than five nights a week :D - plus a couple of afternoons.

On my cruise over Christmas/New Year I played duplicate every afternoon at sea (7 times). I never play in the evenings whilst on a cruise.

We followed our cruise with a week in Sydney and I played at a very good club there.

Do you play Bergen and Jacoby style? It's a foreign language to most people on here ;) :D :D
