    Nicknames

Just been daydreaming about the nicknames we used to have for other kids when we were young(roughly age 7to20)Do they have to be politically correct these days??Are they more, or less aggressive,or more caring??Here is a list of some of my mates on the estate of about 150 houses that Ilived on during my first 2o years.
    Nickname Surname Real Christian name.
    Smiggy Smethurst Eric
    "Cannon " Annable Raymond
    Doof Wright Geoffrey
    Duece Kane Peter
    Deke Deakin Dennis
    Pim Parsons Jimmy
    Bronc Brown Keith
    Kayser Bond Colin
    Teen Mitchell John
    Ben Bailey Dennis
    "Nose " Catten Peter
    Big Wes Wesley Tony
    Little Wes Wesley Robert
Actually "Nose" was my best mate for another 50+yrs. and "Cannon" and me actually cut ourselves(only slightly) and mingled our blood to become "Blood Brothers" when we were about10y.o..
My favourite nickname was a boy living about 5 doors away called "Flayer" simpson, real name Raymond. How I envied him that name!!!!
There was a boy 3 doors away who was calledDonald Duck!!..Really!!His parents had named him Donald before the appearance of the Disney character obviously, and needless to say,he didn't seem to have a nickname.Oh Happy Days.Did you have nicknames?and was it the same for girls??:DStan.

Yes Stan, sadly it was the same for us girls. One of the boys in my class at secondary school noticed that my nose was pointed and thereafter I was referred to as Beaky.

One of my son's was nicknamed 'Bones' at school for obvious reasons, and is still called it today even though he is now fifteen stone and nearly forty.

Hi Stan and May, I was called "worm" because I was stick thin and on school trips when we went on a coach I was the one sent to push through and bag the best seats. All these years later I can still hear them chanting "go worm" it was affectionate term and boy do I wish I was still that thinCarol

My OH had the nick name Wimpy when he was at school because his favourite takeaway was from the burger bar of the same name.

Well Carol, my maiden name was Worm (yes really) and apart from being called Beaky by some of the boys at school, you can imagine the other names I was called with a maiden name like mine. It didn't bother me though, as I was quite proud to have such an unusual name. Odd that I married a Smith-I went from the ridiculous to the sublime.:D Jill
